Warning of thunderstorms, lightning, hail and heavy rain in the South

The Southern Hydrometeorological Station has just issued a warning bulletin about some extreme weather phenomena such as thunderstorms, lightning, heavy rain and even hail. Specifically, through monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar images, and lightning positioning, it shows that thunderstorms are developing, causing showers in the provinces of Dong Nai (Thong Nhat), Binh Phuoc (Bu Gia Map district).

The Southern Hydrometeorological Station issued a warning bulletin on the afternoon of April 29.

In the coming hours, thunderstorms will continue to develop and cause showers with thunderstorms and lightning in the above areas, then the thunderstorms will tend to expand and spread to other neighboring areas. Rainfall is generally from 2 - 10mm, in some places over 10mm. During thunderstorms, beware of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind of level 5 - 8 equivalent to wind speeds of 8 - 22m/s.

This afternoon, the highest temperature in the Southern region was 39 degrees Celsius, recorded at So Sao ( Binh Duong ) and Ta Lai (Dong Nai).

On April 30 and May 1, the Southern region will continue to experience severe heat, with some places experiencing particularly severe heat with the highest temperature reaching 40 degrees Celsius, such as Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh.

Ho Chi Minh City, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, Vinh Long, Can Tho have the highest temperature up to 39 degrees Celsius. The remaining provinces have the highest temperature from 36 - 38 degrees Celsius.

MSc. Le Thi Xuan Lan, a hydrometeorological forecaster, said: From the end of this week to the middle of next week, seasonal rains will appear more frequently in the Southern region. By mid-May, the rainy season will begin in some places in the Ca Mau peninsula, then expand throughout the Southern region. Places where the rainy season comes late will be in the last days of May. During the seasonal transition, extreme weather phenomena often appear, people need to pay attention to prevent them to protect their health and property.
