Storm Matmo, level 10, enters the East Sea, heading towards the North

It is forecasted that tonight, October 3, storm Matmo will enter the East Sea, becoming the 11th storm this year. The storm is forecast to directly affect the northern provinces around October 6.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 1 a.m. this morning, October 3, the center of storm Matmo was at about 15.8 degrees north latitude and 123.7 degrees east longitude, in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines).

Compared to yesterday, October 2, storm Matmo has strengthened to level 9, equivalent to wind speed of 75 - 88 km/h, gusting to level 11. The storm is moving west-northwest at a speed of about 25 km/h.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that after entering the East Sea, storm Matmo continued to strengthen.

Forecast at 1:00 a.m. on October 4, the center of the storm is at 17.7 degrees north latitude and 118.5 degrees east longitude. At this time, storm Matmo is at level 10, gusting to level 12.

As of 1 a.m. on October 5, the center of the storm was located in the northwest sea, the northern part of the East Sea, about 340 km southeast of Leizhou Peninsula (China). At this time, storm Matmo is forecast to strengthen to level 12, gusting to level 15.

East Sea waves 6m high in storm Matmo, sea is very rough

It is forecasted that after passing the Leizhou Peninsula, Typhoon Matmo will continue to move west-northwest, enter the Gulf of Tonkin and head straight towards the North of our country. Around October 6, the Northern provinces will be directly affected.

Assessing that storm Matmo (storm No. 11) is a strong storm with a wide circulation and a large impact area, the Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that from noon and afternoon today, October 3, the sea area east of the northern East Sea will have winds gradually increasing to level 6 - 7; then increasing to level 8 - 9. The area near the storm's center will have strong winds of level 10 - 11, gusting to level 13, waves 4 - 6 m high, and rough seas.

During October 4-5, the northern sea area of ​​the North East Sea will have strong winds of level 11-12, gusting to level 15.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warned that due to the influence of storm Matmo, from October 5 to 7, the northern and north-central provinces are likely to experience widespread heavy rain./.
