North-South Expressway through Quang Tri and Ha Tinh welcomes large traffic flow

On August 20, the Bung - Van Ninh, Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressways (Quang Tri province) and the Bung - Vung Ang expressway (Quang Tri, Ha Tinh) began to receive a large number of vehicles when long-distance drivers moved their vehicles from National Highway 1A to the North - South expressway.

According to records, on this new route after one day of inauguration, thousands of cars of all kinds were circulating.

Many large trucks circulate on the Van Ninh - Cam Lo highway.

In general, drivers were excited about the open highway. Mr. Chu Luu Ha (refrigerated truck driver, license plate 77H-53xxx) said that drivers knew that the highway from Cam Lo to Vung Ang was open, so they chose this route to save time. However, because it was a new route, drivers contacted and shared information with each other about the route, such as when reaching the end of the Bung - Vung Ang section, they needed to turn down from Deo But tunnel, following Ky Anh bypass, because bridge number 1 on the route was still under repair, then turn back to the highway to the North.

Many container trucks also choose to travel on the new highway.

After a day of operation, many drivers commented that the new route is comfortable, has no residential areas, and operates according to regulations to deliver goods early. “The highway is clear, there are no intersections so it is safe,” driver Tran Van ( Hue ) shared.

However, the current problem is that there are no rest stops on the approximately 170km stretch from Cam Lo to Vung Ang. “We have to stop at the emergency strip because driving long distances without stopping is very dangerous. I hope a rest stop will be built soon so that drivers can have a place to rest,” said driver Tran Van.

Passenger cars have also been operating on the new route.

The three North-South expressway component projects through Ha Tinh and Quang Tri that have just been completed have a total length of nearly 170km, with an investment capital of over VND31,800 billion, including the Vung Ang - Bung route, which is more than 55km long (investment capital of VND12,540 billion), the Bung - Van Ninh section, which is nearly 49km long (investment capital of VND9,361 billion), and Van Ninh - Cam Lo, which is 65.5km long (investment capital of VND9,920 billion).

Three sections of approximately 170km currently have no rest stops.

Putting these expressways into operation not only shortens the North-South travel time but also promotes socio -economic development in the Central region. However, to exploit them effectively, it is necessary to urgently build rest stops according to the planning, helping drivers have a place to eat, rest and restore their health, thereby ensuring traffic safety on this new route.
