Certificates of Merit were awarded to 3 traffic police officers who died while on duty at Bao Loc Pass.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed Decision No. 900/QD-TTg dated July 31, 2023 of the Prime Minister to award the Certificate of Merit to 3 martyrs of the Ministry of Public Security , who sacrificed their lives while performing rescue, relief and disaster response tasks in the Bao Loc pass area, Da Huoai district, Lam Dong province.

3 martyrs were awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Fatherland including:

Martyr Nguyen Khac Thuong, Lieutenant Colonel of the People's Police, officer of the Traffic Police Department, Lam Dong Provincial Police; hometown: Nam Hung Commune, Nam Sach District, Hai Duong Province.

Martyr Le Quang Thanh, People's Police Major, officer of the Traffic Police Department, Lam Dong Provincial Police; hometown: Trieu Ai Commune, Trieu Phong District, Quang Tri Province.

Martyr Le Anh Sang, Captain of the People's Police, officer of the Traffic Police Department, Lam Dong Provincial Police; hometown: Tan Lam Huong Commune, Thach Ha District, Ha Tinh Province.

The Decision takes effect from the date of issuance. The Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs is responsible for implementing the Decision.

Previously, at around 2:30 p.m. on July 30, upon receiving information that there was a landslide at Bao Loc Pass checkpoint (the area in the middle of Bao Loc Pass), a number of soldiers from Madanguoi Traffic Police Station who were on patrol and control duty returned to Bao Loc Pass Traffic Police Station to help people move vehicles and equipment.

While on duty, a large amount of rock and soil fell and buried 3 traffic police officers and a civilian.

The victims of the landslide include: Major Nguyen Khac Thuong; Captain Le Quang Thanh; Senior Lieutenant Le Anh Sang and Mr. Ngoc Anh, a resident who assisted the traffic police in moving the station.

On the afternoon of July 31, General To Lam - Minister of Public Security signed a decision to posthumously promote the ranks of three officers and soldiers of the Traffic Police Department, Lam Dong Provincial Police, who died while on duty in the landslide at Bao Loc Pass.

Accordingly, Major Nguyen Khac Thuong (born 1981) was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel; Captain Le Quang Thanh (born 1977) was promoted to Major; Senior Lieutenant Le Anh Sang (born 1990) was promoted to Captain.

The Minister of Public Security also signed a decision to support 100 million VND/family for the families of 3 officers and soldiers who died; and 50 million VND for the family of Mr. Pham Ngoc Anh - former conscript soldier, Lam Dong Provincial Police.
