After nearly 1 year of construction, the new Duong Bridge connecting Long Bien district and Gia Lam district ( Hanoi ) with a total investment of more than 1,800 billion VND has gradually taken shape.
In July 2023, the Ministry of Transport started construction of two railway bridges and a road bridge across the Duong River (part of the Duong River Water Transport Upgrade Project), replacing the old Duong Bridge for joint railway and road use. With a total investment of more than VND 1,800 billion.
The road bridge and approach road start at the old Duong bridge intersection on Ngo Gia Tu street, Long Bien district; end at the intersection between Ha Huy Tap street and Phan Dang Luu street, Gia Lam district, about 100m downstream from the old Duong bridge.
The road bridge is 382 m long, combined with cable-stayed bridge, 18.5 m wide, clearance under the bridge is 4.75 m. The approach road is 318 m long, designed speed is 80 km/h, 6 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 lanes for mixed vehicles, the first phase is to have a scale of 4 lanes for motor vehicles.
The railway bridge and approach road are 1 km long according to the existing railway route, about 16.5 m upstream from the old Duong bridge, coinciding with the investment location for the construction of Hanoi urban railway line No. 1.
The railway bridge has 6 steel girder spans and 280 m long steel trusses, built to ensure railways with gauges of 1,000 mm and 1,435 mm; design speed of 80 km/h. The clearance limit is invested in stages with a clearance of 7 m, and the completion stage is 9.5 m. The bridge has a pedestrian corridor on the right side of the route.
According to Dan Viet reporters, at the construction site of the road bridge across the Duong River, machinery and construction materials have been gathered to serve the construction work.
Workers are constructing the items.
A bridge pier has been installed at the construction site in Long Bien district.
At the railway bridge construction site, 3 bridge piers have been installed.
Workers are making steel cages for the construction of bored piles for the bridge foundation.
Up to now, the two road and railway bridges across the Duong River have only been deployed in the area outside the river dike. Residential areas on both sides of the river that are subject to site clearance have not yet been relocated.
The project is expected to be completed in 2025. When put into use, Duong Railway Bridge will increase the waterway transport capacity on waterway corridor No. 1, ensuring safety for waterway vehicles and helping the railway run smoothly.
