Vietnamese women contribute to economic development and social security

On October 2, in Hanoi, a conference was held to summarize 15 years of implementing the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's" to participate in building new rural areas; to summarize Project 938 and the Godmother Program organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union.

The conference is not only an opportunity for us to look back on the 15-year journey of persistently and persistently implementing a major movement closely associated with the lives of women and people across the country; but also an opportunity to summarize the second phase of Project 938 "Propaganda, education , mobilization, and support for women to participate in solving a number of social issues related to women in the period 2017-2027" and the "Godmother" Program - tasks rich in humanity, affirming the role, responsibility, and love and sharing of Vietnamese women.

Through the conference, we will evaluate the results achieved and draw valuable lessons; at the same time, determine the direction, tasks and solutions for the following years, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Women's Congress and new Resolutions of the Party and State, for the sustainable development of the country and the happiness of every Vietnamese family.

Speaking at the conference, President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen said: After 15 years of implementation, the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no's and 3 clean's" has become a widespread movement, reaching every home and every hamlet, creating a clear change in each family, spreading strongly in the community. The criteria of the campaign do not stop at slogans, but have been concretized by specific, practical models, works and tasks, suitable to the conditions of each locality and each region. In particular, since 2016, the Campaign has been included by the Prime Minister in the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, in the period of 2021-2025, the content has been expanded with the focus on "Cultivating, preserving and developing the Vietnamese family value system" thereby directly contributing to the implementation of 11/19 new rural criteria, clearly affirming the role and outstanding mark of the Women's Union organization.

During the period 2010-2020, the Movement has truly taken root in life, from simple but meaningful actions: flower roads taken care of by women, "Shelters of Love" built in flood areas, legal training classes, family skills brought to villages. More than 90 thousand poor households headed by women have escaped poverty and tens of thousands of self-managed roads, "5 no, 3 clean" models have been formed, creating changes and affirming the role of women in building new rural areas.

Entering the 2021-2025 period, the Movement has made a strong transformation with many initiatives and innovations, keeping up with the requirements set out in the new context: with more than 18,000 projects, the registration part of the work to participate in new rural construction has been completed; more than 10,000 environmental protection models have been born to adapt to climate change; millions of women have received social security support, access to health insurance, tens of thousands of communication and training classes to help women improve their life skills, parenting skills, start-ups and economic development. This is a step forward to take the Movement beyond the household framework, becoming a community driving force, linking women's responsibilities with sustainable development.

Looking back over 15 years, the Campaign's mark is engraved through very ordinary but emotional models: from the 3 clean, tidy, warm houses; the colorful flower roads throughout the countryside; the models 'Women living green', 'Turning waste into money' spreading an environmentally friendly lifestyle; to 'Safe houses for women and children' becoming a solid support for vulnerable lives... Each model not only brings practical results, but also ignites confidence, arouses the sense of responsibility, love and pride of Vietnamese women on the journey of joining hands to build new rural areas.

In addition to the important achievements of the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no's and 3 clean's", the Vietnam Women's Union was also entrusted by the Government to preside over Project 938 - a task of special significance, aiming to solve urgent social issues, directly related to the lives of women and children.

After nearly 3 years of implementing phase 2 (2022-2027), with 3 key intervention contents: preventing domestic violence; parenting education and ensuring food safety, the Project has contributed to significantly improving legal awareness and self-protection capacity of women and children; maintaining and establishing more than 2,300 trusted addresses; over 5,000 parenting education models and more than 2,000 "Leaders of Change" clubs... In particular, the 'Godmother' Program - a humane initiative born in the post-Covid-19 context, has strongly aroused the spirit of sharing, with more than 50,000 godmothers directly and indirectly supporting over 37,000 orphans. This is not only a social security program, but also a journey to connect the community, connect love, so that every orphan in difficult circumstances can be protected, nurtured and have their dreams fulfilled.

Also according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, entering a new phase with many opportunities and challenges, the Vietnam Women's Union has identified a number of focuses in the coming time, which are: Continuing to improve quality, aiming for sustainable values, gradually adjusting the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's" to "Building a family of 5 yes's, 3 clean's" in the term of the 14th National Women's Congress, in line with the orientation of building new rural areas and developing a sustainable society; Promoting education on Vietnamese family values, cultivating a culture of behavior, preventing violence and abuse against women and children, especially in the digital environment; associated with implementing the Vietnam Family Development Strategy and the National Strategy on Gender Equality.

Strengthening population and development work; comprehensively caring for the health of women and children, especially women in rural, mountainous and migrant areas; focusing on reproductive health, mental health, disease prevention, contributing to the implementation of the Vietnam Population Strategy to 2030; Continuing to expand and ensure the sustainability of the "Godmother" Program, considering it not only a humane social security solution but also a symbol of solidarity and sharing, contributing to the implementation of the motto "leaving no one behind"; Improving knowledge, life skills, digital skills, encouraging women to start businesses, innovate, master science and technology, contributing to the development of household economy, collective economy, digital economy and green economy.

At the Conference, the Vietnam Women's Union honored 50 typical examples in implementing the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's" - women and groups who have worked tirelessly and creatively day and night, making each house, alley, and village brighter - greener - cleaner - more beautiful, spreading a civilized and happy lifestyle and 35 outstanding examples in the "Godmother" Program - kind hearts who have opened their arms of love, sheltered and supported thousands of orphaned and unfortunate children, helping them gain more strength and faith in life./.
