Praying for the souls of heroes and martyrs according to Buddhist rituals of the three regions at Vesak

Within the framework of the 2025 United Nations Vesak Celebration, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha organized ceremonies in the great fasting platform to pray for the souls of heroes and martyrs according to Buddhist rituals of the three regions of North - Central - South.

The location of the ceremony in the great vegetarian festival is Thanh Tam Pagoda (Le Minh Xuan Commune, Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City).

Before that, the Ceremony Committee invited the souls of the martyrs at the Mau Than year's martyrs memorial (Tan Nhut commune, Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) to be placed at the altar.

According to Giac Ngo Online, the Northern Buddhist ritual to pray for the souls of heroes and martyrs is the noon offering ceremony and the offering of six offerings.

The Northern Buddhist Ritual Committee performed the noon worship ceremony and offered six offerings at the altar to pray for the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the year of Mau Than 1968, those who fell for the cause of national liberation and reunification.

Most Venerable Thich Thanh Loi - Deputy Head and Secretary General of the Central Ceremony Committee - presided over the ceremony with Venerables and musicians from the traditional band of the Northern Delta region.

After offering incense to the Triple Gem, the Venerables performed the traditional ceremony of universally offering alms to the Triple Gem and offering food to heroes and martyrs.

The ceremony includes the offering of incense, candles, flowers, tea, fruit and food performed by monks.

The offering process is performed with hand gestures and steps according to the secret teachings in the ritual. This is a unique cultural feature of Northern Buddhism.

The harmonious combination of tones in traditional artistic music has contributed to conveying Buddhist teachings.

Praying for superheroes and martyrs according to Buddhist rituals in the Central region

Hue Buddhist Ritual Committee held a ceremony and offered flowers and lanterns at the altar to pray for the souls of heroes and martyrs according to Hue Buddhist rituals.

Most Venerable Thich Giac Dao - Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Ritual Committee, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hue City - presided.

After offering incense to the Triple Gem and circumambulating the five directions of the altar, the Venerables ascended to their seats and performed the traditional yoga ritual.

During the ceremony, the 24 monks transformed into devas, wearing robes and caps, to offer flowers and lanterns.

The flower lantern dance is an offering to the Triple Gem, to the Buddha, to pray for national peace and prosperity, the longevity of the Dharma, the rebirth of the dead and the peace of the living, and the happiness of all beings.

Praying for superheroes and martyrs according to Southern Buddhist rituals

The Ritual Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to pray for the souls of heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the year of Mau Than 1968; and to give alms to all living beings according to Southern Buddhist rituals.

The ceremony was blessed by the five masters of the ceremony. After the altar and the ceremony, the venerable monks ascended their thrones in different directions and performed the ritual of offering alms in the middle of yoga, so that through the secret support and the meritorious practice of the masters of the altar, both yin and yang would benefit.

The Venerable monks and the Buddhist monks performed the ritual of inviting the Triple Gem to witness, inviting the souls of martyrs and relatives of the clans to gather at the altar to see the Triple Gem and receive the nectar of Dharma food.
