Tieu Tuong Huy has turned away from engineering to pursue a creative path, starting his journey of 'breathing national soul' through familiar conical hats.

Every detail of the Dong Son bronze drum shown on his conical hat is meticulously done by Tuong Huy.

With a love for art, Tieu Tuong Huy (born in 2002, a former student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology) decided to change direction from engineering to pursue a creative path, starting the journey of "breathing national soul" through familiar conical hats.

Inspired by Dong Son bronze drums, the visual heritage of Lac Viet civilization. Ancient patterns such as Lac birds, the sun, festivals or warriors are delicately depicted, vividly recreated on the background of a traditional conical hat made from recycled soft drink cans...

Conical hat products with strong cultural elements are increasingly attracting the attention of young people, demonstrated by the increasing number of orders from young people who love traditional values.

In addition, many travel companies are currently ordering mini conical hats in large quantities as souvenirs for international delegations.

In 2022, Huy came up with the idea of ​​combining nostalgia and modern materials with the innovative idea implemented on traditional conical hats. Huy said that through many experiments with materials such as wax paper, plastic bottles, jute fabric, it was a meticulous craft lesson.

One of the two outstanding designs in Huy's collection is the conical hat inspired by the Dong Son bronze drum, a heritage of the Lac Viet civilization.

At the same time, the lotus leaf conical hat evokes pure and noble beauty, symbolizing the character and spirit of Vietnamese people.

Each petal is arranged deliberately, blending aesthetic composition and symbolic meaning. The combination of traditional conical background and modern patterns creates a work that balances nostalgic and contemporary forms.

Huy shared: "By bringing cultural symbols to the familiar conical hat, we hope to not only revive cultural memories but also help connect tradition with modern life. Bring Vietnamese culture to foreign tourists - blending into world culture."

Tuong Huy dedicated a small corner in his rented room as a creative area.

In the rented room, it is both a place for composing, displaying and a makeshift studio for product advertising photography.

Tuong Huy went to the museum to look for cultural documents to breathe life into his works.

Products made from plastic water bottles and tin cans are carefully trimmed to every detail.

In addition to the materials in the book, Huy also researched artifacts in historical museums to create the product.
