Previously, at 7:09 p.m. on September 2, EVN energized the entire line, completing the project of supplying national grid power to Con Dao - a project to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
According to EVN, putting the project into operation will not only provide a stable, continuous, and safe power source for Con Dao, replacing the on-site diesel power source, but also contribute to reducing electricity production costs, limiting greenhouse gas emissions, and achieving sustainable development goals. The project also affirms the capacity to construct large-scale energy projects, applying modern technology in harsh conditions at sea.

The project has a voltage level of 110kV, a total length of 103.7km, including 17.5km of overhead lines, 77.7km of submarine cables and 8.5km of submarine cables on the island. The total investment is 4,923 billion VND. The investor is Vietnam Electricity Group.
The project started in December 2024; completed cable pulling on the entire line on August 12, 2025; completed the expansion of the 220kV Vinh Chau transformer station on August 5, 2025; tested energizing the entire line on August 22, 2025 and officially energized on September 2, 2025.
The project marks an important turning point in the national energy infrastructure development strategy, demonstrating the determination of the Government and the electricity sector in caring for the lives and socio -economic development in coastal and border areas.
