Nha Trang restaurant owner who "ripped off" Chinese customers was fined 96.5 million VND

(NLDO) - Nha Trang City People's Committee decided to punish 5 violations that occurred at the restaurant that "ripped off" Chinese tourists, including selling at a higher price than the listed price.


On February 18, the People's Committee of Nha Trang City ( Khanh Hoa ) issued a decision to fine a restaurant owner for "ripping off" Chinese tourists.

Accordingly, Nha Trang People's Committee fined Dai Tam Phat Nha Trang Company Limited, whose director is Mr. Ho Van Tam. Mr. Ho Van Tam is the owner of Aroma Beach restaurant (38 Nguyen Thien Thuat (old number: 8/1 Nguyen Thien Thuat), Tan Lap ward (now Tan Tien ward), Nha Trang city.

Aroma Beach restaurant removed all signs after being accused of "overcharging"

Specifically, the Nha Trang City People's Committee imposed a fine of 15 million VND on the act of advertising products and goods that were not displayed in Vietnamese, except for cases where the trademarks, slogans, brands, and proper names were in foreign languages. Specifically: the business establishment hung and installed 4 light boxes advertising products and goods that displayed Chinese and Korean characters but not in Vietnamese.

A fine of 25 million VND will be imposed on the act of providing food services without a Certificate of food safety eligibility. Specifically: the establishment is currently providing food services without a Certificate of food safety eligibility.

Fine of 40 million VND for not displaying the company name at the head office.

A fine of 1.5 million VND will be imposed for not posting prices of goods in one of the forms prescribed by law. Specifically: at the business location, the prices of the following goods are not posted: steamed prawns with beer, beef/chicken pho, fried beef balls, various drinks...

Fine of 15 million VND for the act of selling goods at higher prices than the listed price. Specifically: selling higher prices than the listed price of some goods as follows: grouper, squid fried in fish sauce, eggplant grilled with scallion oil, morning glory stir-fried with garlic, beef steak grilled with cheese, duck eggs, grilled shrimp.

The bill caused a social "storm" because of the "overcharging" level.

Previously, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper reported on social media that Chinese tourists were "ripped off" when eating at Aroma Beach restaurant.

Specifically, the bill of Aroma Beach restaurant at 7:49 p.m. on February 3 included very expensive dishes, such as: grilled eggplant with scallion oil 1,890,000 VND/portion; stir-fried water spinach with garlic 1 plate 500,000 VND, 2 plates 1 million VND; white rice 250,000 VND/portion, 2 portions 500,000 VND; soft drink 100,000 VND/bottle...

The bill for all dishes was 15,724,000 VND, "Tet surcharge" was 4,717,200 VND, the total amount the customer paid was 20,441,200 VND.
