Vietnam Boxing Federation President 'Missing': Related to another legal case?

The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Boxing Federation (VBF) requested Mr. Luu Tu Bao to send a power of attorney to hand over the work.

This afternoon (September 4), the Standing Committee of VBF held an urgent online meeting to resolve the matter of Mr. Luu Tu Bao, President of VBF, who has been "missing" for the past few months since returning to the US and did not attend the meeting. Some opinions in the Standing Committee reflected that they had read information about a man named Bao Luu involved in a drug-related case posted on an overseas website.

In response to the above reflection, another leader of VBF said that this was an unverified source of information. In early August 2025, when talking with Mr. Luu Tu Bao, he said that he was involved in a legal case in the US that needed to be resolved. This case was not related to banned substances but was a different case, brought to trial at first instance but due to insufficient evidence, the case ended peacefully for Mr. Bao.

At 5:00 p.m. tomorrow (September 5), the VBF Executive Committee will meet to listen to the report of the incident from the Standing Committee and at the same time deploy the work in the coming time when Mr. Luu Tu Bao is absent. It is known that to ensure the smooth operation of VBF, the Standing Committee proposed that Mr. Nguyen Huy Hung - Vice President and General Secretary of VBF, request Mr. Luu Tu Bao to send a letter of authorization to hand over the work.

Mr. Luu Tu Bao, born in 1976, in addition to being the President of VBF, is also the President of the Ho Chi Minh City Mixed Martial Arts Federation for the 2022-2027 term, President of the Saigon Sports Club and has participated in organizing many domestic and international martial arts events in Vietnam in the past 9 years.
