Previously, at noon on October 17, President Vo Van Thuong led a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to Beijing International Airport, starting the program to attend the third Belt and Road Forum (BRF) at the invitation of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping.

On October 17, President Vo Van Thuong met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and attended a reception to welcome heads of delegations and their spouses attending the 3rd Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

According to VNA, speaking at the opening ceremony, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that over the past 10 years, Belt and Road (BRI) cooperation has developed from detailed plans into practical projects.

During this period, BRI international cooperation has developed rapidly and yielded fruitful results.

According to the Chinese leader, within the framework of BRI, a large number of signature projects and people-centered programs have been implemented.

With the theme “High-quality Belt and Road cooperation, joining hands for common development and prosperity”, the forum will focus on discussing and summarizing the cooperation achievements over the past 10 years, exchanging prospects and directions for future cooperation.

The forum includes three high-level sessions with key contents on “Digital Economy as a New Driver of Growth”, “Connectivity in an Open Global Economy”, “Green Silk Road for Harmony with Nature” and six other forums on trade connectivity, people-to-people exchanges, clean silk road, local cooperation, cooperation between research institutions and maritime cooperation. A CEO conference will also be held at this forum.

The BRI initiative was first raised by Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Central Asia (September 2013) and Southeast Asia (October 2013).
