Within the framework of his visit to Vietnam, on the morning of October 4, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández and a high-ranking Cuban delegation visited and worked in Hung Yen province.
Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Yen province Nguyen Khac Than warmly welcomed the delegation led by President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernández to visit and work in the province, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Cuba.
The Vietnam-Cuba diplomatic relationship is one of the rare and special relationships in the world , built on the foundation of solidarity, loyal friendship, and sharing in even the most difficult times. The loyal and pure solidarity between the two peoples was painstakingly cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro, becoming an exemplary symbol of international relations.
The Vietnamese people will forever remember the sentiments and wholehearted support that Cuba has given Vietnam during the arduous years of resistance, as well as in the cause of national construction and defense today.
Briefly introducing some highlights of the local socio-economic development situation, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Yen province Nguyen Khac Than said that Hung Yen will be reorganized and rearranged on the basis of merging the two provinces of Hung Yen and Thai Binh (old) from July 1, 2025.
The new Hung Yen province now covers an area of over 2,500 km2 and has a population of over 3.2 million people. The merger has created a larger development space, enhanced infrastructure connectivity, expanded investment space, and attracted domestic and international resources.
Over the past years, Hung Yen province has always maintained macroeconomic stability, with the economic structure shifting positively towards industry - services - agriculture.
With a large-scale agricultural production base and a key position in the Red River Delta, Hung Yen is focusing on attracting investment, developing industry and services; the business environment is rapidly improving, associated with promoting administrative reform, improving the quality of public services and people's satisfaction.
Currently, Hung Yen has formed many industrial parks and clusters, attracting thousands of domestic and foreign enterprises, becoming an attractive destination for investors.
There are currently 904 foreign investment projects in the area from countries and territories such as Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan (China), Hong Kong (China), the United States..., with a total registered capital of 16.2 billion USD.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that through the visit and work of the Cuban National Assembly Chairman, it will contribute to enhancing understanding, further tightening the brotherly solidarity, and at the same time opening up practical cooperation opportunities between Hung Yen province and Cuban localities in fields such as: health, education - training, high-tech agriculture, processing industry, culture - tourism...
Thanking the local authorities for their thoughtful and warm welcome to the delegation, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernández expressed his impression and appreciation of the socio-economic development achievements the province has achieved in recent times, as one of the localities with high growth rates in Vietnam.
The Chairman of the Cuban National Assembly sent congratulations to the Provincial Party Committee when Hung Yen successfully organized the first Provincial Party Congress with important development orientations and goals for the 2025-2030 term, with a vision to 2045.
The Cuban National Assembly Chairman believes that with a high spirit of solidarity, dynamism, creativity, and existing potentials and advantages, Hung Yen province will develop sustainably and comprehensively in all aspects, completing the set development goals.
Based on the solidarity relationship that was carefully cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and leader Fidel Castro, the Chairman of the Cuban National Assembly expressed his hope that the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba will continue to be close, strong and further developed; helping the peoples continue to develop prosperously, for the happiness of the people.
Notably, after the visit of General Secretary To Lam and subsequent working sessions, the two sides approved many specific cooperation programs and actions in many fields.
Informing about the current situation of the country's difficulties, President of the Cuban National Assembly Esteban Lazo Hernández respectfully expressed his deep feelings for the support of Vietnam in general and the people of Hung Yen province in particular in launching the fundraising movement to support solidarity and help the Cuban people. This is a noble gesture, demonstrating the strong brotherly relationship between the two countries.
The President of the Cuban National Assembly sent his deepest condolences to the Vietnamese people for the consequences caused by Typhoon Bualoi (Typhoon No. 10) with heavy losses in human lives and property; hoping that with strong will and a spirit of solidarity and sharing, Vietnam will soon overcome and overcome the difficulties caused by natural disasters.
At the working session, the delegation of the Republic of Cuba and Hung Yen province exchanged and shared experiences in socio-economic development, investment attraction, state management and administration, apparatus administration; high-tech agricultural development, etc../.
