On the evening of October 18, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City, received the Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly, Kover Laszlo, who had just arrived in the city, starting an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man.
At the reception, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council expressed his pleasure to welcome Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly Kover Laszlo to visit Vietnam and the city at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (February 3, 1950 - February 3, 2025).
The relationship between Vietnam and Hungary is increasingly close and strong, demonstrated by the fact that in a short time, Vietnam was honored to welcome two high-ranking delegations of Hungarian leaders to visit. Before that was the official visit to Vietnam by Hungarian President Sulyok Tamas and his wife at the end of May 2025.
Mr. Vo Van Minh said that Ho Chi Minh City has just merged with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces to form a "super city" with a population of over 14 million people and an area of over 6,700 square kilometers. Currently, the city contributes about 1/3 of the national budget and its economic scale accounts for about 1/4 of the whole country.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council emphasized that after the merger, the city is trying to promote its advantages to develop the city more strongly and sustainably in the coming time, especially in areas such as: marine economy, tourism, industry associated with oil and gas, seaports, high-tech industry...
In particular, Ho Chi Minh City is promoting the construction of the Vietnam International Financial Center in the city.
According to Mr. Vo Van Minh, in 2015, Ho Chi Minh City had friendly cooperation with the capital of Budapest, Hungary. In the coming time, the city hopes that more and more Hungarian enterprises will come to invest, develop production and business in the city; and strengthen friendly cooperation and people-to-people diplomacy between the city and localities of Hungary.

Hungarian National Assembly Chairman Kover Laszlo thanked the Ho Chi Minh City leaders for their warm welcome to the delegation and expressed his pleasure to visit and witness the remarkable development of Vietnam today.
The Chairman of the Hungarian National Assembly said that compared to 10 years ago (the most recent visit to Vietnam), Ho Chi Minh City has developed remarkably in all aspects.
National Assembly Chairman Kover Laszlo said Hungary always encourages businesses to seek investment opportunities in Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, thereby hoping that Ho Chi Minh City will continue to pay attention and create conditions for Hungarian businesses to cooperate, do business and strengthen friendly cooperation with Hungarian localities.
Previously, the delegation of the Hungarian National Assembly Chairman visited the stupa and paid tribute to Hungarian scholar and Orientalist Sandor Korosi Csoma in Vung Tau ward./.
