Digital transformation to improve operational quality

Journalist Nguyen Bao Lam - Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Journalists Association (HNB) shared that 2023 is determined to be the year of continued innovation and drastic innovation in the activities of all levels of the Journalists Association, in which the digital transformation work of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Journalists Association is of great concern.

“ Digital transformation in journalism is an inevitable trend in the era of technology 4.0. Therefore, HNB always strives to innovate thinking and improve digital working skills for members to integrate with modern journalism trends. Implementing digital transformation in press agencies in general and HNB in particular is an important and urgent need, contributing to conveying information and bringing journalists closer to readers ” - Mr. Lam said.

For the provincial HNB, digital transformation in the field of journalism is the use of digital technology to change the management model, business, operations, news production... to optimize the operating model of HNB, thereby creating new efficiencies and values in work. Accordingly, implementing Resolution No. 01/NQ-TU dated December 31, 2020 of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee on the Digital Transformation Program of Thai Nguyen province, period 2021-2025 with a vision to 2030 and practically responding to the movement " Thai Nguyen promotes digital transformation", HNB has thoroughly grasped and deployed documents to 100% of the Association's Office staff and members to install applications such as C-Thai Nguyen, Electronic Party Member Handbook, Vietnam Social Security, Electronic Identification Application... Implementing the policy of digitization, applying information technology in all activities, using digital platforms in assigning work, exchanging and implementing work. From there, minimize the use of documents, papers or meetings, use software for professional work such as accounting software, Lien Thong software, store agency documents on Google Drive to save computer memory, limit memory overload and keep data secure.

Regarding professional expertise, Mr. Bao Lam said that recently, the Association has paid special attention to professional training courses on multimedia journalism for members and journalists. Such as skills in using and exploiting information on popular social networking platforms such as Facebook, Youtube, Zalo, TikTok...

Currently, press agencies with branches and sub-branches under HNB are promoting propaganda on these social networking platforms and achieving many positive results, through which economic , social, and current domestic, international and local information is conveyed to readers in the fastest way.

In 2022, the Journalists Association has actively deployed the application of information technology and digital transformation to its affiliates and branches. Among them, Mediatech Vietnam Company - one of the leading solution providers and system integrators in the media industry - was invited to attend the Forum "Journalism with digital transformation" to introduce some optimal solutions on digital transformation 4.0 in the field of journalism such as: Converged newsroom; multi-platform news production process management system and royalties; OTT digital content distribution system; digital content storage infrastructure...

In practice, the Thai Nguyen Journalists' Association currently has two types of information and propaganda. These are the Thai Nguyen Journalists' Newsletter and the Electronic Information Page... both of which are operated by an electronic publishing process from editing, reviewing, censoring content to presenting, publishing, and printing scientific and rigorous newspapers. The Electronic Information Page has had over 16 million visits so far.

HNB Thai Nguyen also established a Fanpage with the address https://www.facebook.com/hoinhabaotn providing and posting many contents about expertise, journalism profession, domestic and international current issues of public interest. Currently, the page has attracted nearly 1,000 regular followers with thousands of likes.

The Youtube page posts videos and clips produced by the Provincial Journalists Association and updated from official press sources, including many cultural and social activities of the province. Although it has just been established, it has had hundreds of subscribers and the number of views is increasing day by day... In the coming time, HNB will continue to promote propaganda on Zalo and TikTok to meet the needs of readers.

Although he is one of the local Associations that "caught up" quite early with digital transformation, Mr. Nguyen Bao Lam cannot help but worry about the financial problem of maintaining this activity.

“In fact, the digital transformation work of the Journalists Association in recent years has had many advantages, but we also encountered some difficulties, that is, the process of implementing digital transformation still lacks budget resources in investing in purchasing technology equipment to serve the work. The staff working for the Association have to take on many jobs at the same time, so the work efficiency is not high, the information technology system has not been invested synchronously, leading to difficulties in exploiting databases... The interconnected software of the HNB and the software for managing Party work are often faulty, sometimes there is a situation where the sent documents do not reach the recipient and vice versa, the incoming documents are not displayed on the software system. Some interconnected documents arrive late, leading to the document processing process being delayed...".

In order for the Digital Transformation work to continue to achieve many positive results, in the following years, the Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Association shared a number of key solutions, in which the unit will continue to focus on innovating the content and methods of operation in the direction of focusing on the grassroots, with focus, key points, closely and decisively. Building a strong Association organization, meeting the requirements in the new situation. Continuing to strengthen discipline, order and awareness of compliance with instructions, organization and implementation of the Association at all levels and members. Paying attention to inspection and supervision work at the grassroots level to proactively detect and promptly handle problems arising in practical activities. Closely coordinate with press management and direction agencies; press agencies on all aspects, especially digital transformation in press activities.

It can be said that, in recent times, Thai Nguyen Association of Banking has been very active in "transforming" in applying technology to the Association's activities.
