Digital transformation is the key driving force for the country to develop rapidly and sustainably.

On October 22, in Vinh Long province, the Central Propaganda and Education Commission coordinated with the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee and the Ministry of Science and Technology to organize a conference to disseminate information on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, promoting socio-economic development according to Resolution 57 of the Politburo.

In Vinh Long province, the implementation of Resolution 57 has achieved many important results. Science, technology and innovation activities have made much progress; mechanisms and policies on science and technology have been adjusted and supplemented in the direction of encouraging socialization and attracting investment from economic sectors.

The province has managed and implemented 373 science and technology tasks, including 17 national-level tasks; 270 provincial-level tasks; and 86 grassroots-level tasks. Research results have created 15 new varieties and built 299 models. Most of these results have been applied to production.

The whole Vinh Long province has 11 geographical indications with established protection rights for the province's key products and 1,124 organizations and individuals are licensed to use intellectual property rights. The "Digital Education for All" movement has been widely deployed, attracting over 95,844 students to participate, creating a clear change in raising awareness and digital skills for officials, party members and people. In 2024, the province's Provincial Innovation Index (PII) will reach 32.29 points, ranking 3/5 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region and 21/34 provinces and cities nationwide.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee Tran Van Lau assessed that under the close direction of the Central Steering Committee 57, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Steering Committee 57, the dissemination and propaganda of Resolution 57 has been promptly and widely deployed, spreading strongly to cadres, party members, union members, association members and people through media channels such as newspapers, television and social networks... Thereby, more and more good models and creative ways of doing things have appeared in various fields to serve the people well, meeting the socio-economic development requirements of the province.

Journalist Le Nam Tu, Chief Representative of Nhan Dan Newspaper in the Southern region, said that Nhan Dan Newspaper regularly has articles and series of articles on the results of the Government's Project 06 on developing applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation.

In the field of education, Dr. Nguyen Bach Khoa, Head of the Faculty of Basic Sciences (Cuu Long University) said that in the period of 2020-2025, although it is a private school and is not funded for basic research, the school still proactively invests 3-5 billion VND per year in science and technology activities. As a result, in the past 5 years, the school has implemented 78 basic-level projects, 214 faculty-level projects and 149 student projects. At the same time, it has compiled 164 textbooks for training.

Speaking at the conference, comrade Huynh Thanh Dat, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, said that Resolution 57 of the Politburo clearly identified that science, technology, innovation and digital transformation are the main driving forces to bring the country to rapid and sustainable development; realizing the aspiration that by 2045, Vietnam will become a developed country with high income.

The results of the conference will be an important basis for ministries, sectors and localities to develop specific, synchronous and effective action plans to implement Resolution 57 for the 2025-2030 period. From there, it will create a new push, adding new momentum to the process of scientific and technological breakthroughs, innovation and digital transformation in the Mekong Delta region as well as across the country.
