"Even though we lost, we are still proud of you. Congratulations to Uzbekistan for winning," a Thai fan said after watching his team lose 1-2 to Uzbekistan in the round of 16 match of the 2023 Asian Cup.
With a higher level, the Uzbekistan team put great pressure on Thailand's defense and opened the score in the 37th minute of the match.
From a favorable pass from midfield to the right wing, Azizbek Turgunboev ran to receive the ball with his chest before decisively kicking past goalkeeper Patiwat. The 1-0 score remained until the end of the first half.

Entering the second half, Thailand's patience in counter-attacking defense was rewarded when Supachok quickly finished from outside the penalty area, the ball went in a tricky direction, giving goalkeeper Yusupov no chance to block, thereby equalizing 1-1 for the home team.
However, Uzbekistan's class made the difference when Abbosbek Fayzullaev skillfully maneuvered in front of the penalty area and finished to give the home team a 2-1 lead in the 65th minute.
Thailand's efforts were unsuccessful in the remaining minutes and they had to accept a stop in the round of 16 of the 2023 Asian Cup.
"Although Thailand lost today's match, they are definitely the best team in Southeast Asia at the moment. I think the Thai head coach will have more to show in the future, and I hope he can help Thai football develop to a higher level," a Thai fan expressed his hope for his team despite losing the match.

"At least we made our mark in the tournament. The whole team tried our best to fight against teams with a higher level than us. We will come back and develop our team for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers," another Thai fan said.
"Well done both teams. Thank you Thailand. Focus on our speed to keep improving," a third fan shared.
"All Thai players did their best, congratulations to the team and believe they will go further. Congratulations on Uzbekistan's victory," another fan affirmed.
With Thailand's defeat, Southeast Asian teams have run out of representatives after the round of 16. Previously, Indonesia also stopped after a heavy 0-4 loss to Australia.
