Vietnam team gathering time confirmed before match against Nepal

(Dan Tri) - To prepare for the 3rd qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese team is expected to gather on October 4, right after the 6th round of the 2025-2026 V-League.

The final matches of round 6 of the 2025-2026 V-League will end on the evening of October 3 (HAGL vs. SLNA, Ha Tinh Club vs. PVF-CAND Club). Immediately after that, the Vietnamese national team will gather.

In October, coach Kim Sang Sik's team (Korean) will have two matches with the Nepal team, within the framework of the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

On October 9, the Vietnamese team will host the Nepal team at Go Dau Stadium (HCMC). Then, on October 14, the Vietnamese team will meet this opponent again at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC).

Initially, the return match between Nepal and Vietnam was scheduled to be held in Kathmandu (Nepal). However, at the last minute, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) did not agree to hold the match at the above location, due to AFC's concerns about the safety of the players of both teams.

Therefore, AFC has asked the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to host the second leg, before the parties reached an agreement and the match on October 14 took place at Thong Nhat Stadium.

Vietnam is currently second in Group F of the Asian Championship qualifiers, with three points after two matches. We are above Laos (three points) and Nepal (zero points), but below Malaysia (six points).

It is possible that coach Kim Sang Sik will create opportunities for some players who have not had the opportunity to wear the national team jersey before to play in the match against Nepal, in order to test the squad.
