To keep students focused in class

Ms. Linh said that recently, a student in her homeroom class used a phone during class and had his name recorded in the attendance book. Since then, she has used the class fund to buy a 4-tier wooden shelf (the kind used for storing shoes) and placed it in a corner of the classroom podium to "confiscate students' phones."

At the beginning of class, students will turn in their phones on the shelf, and can take them out during break time. The class has 4 groups, and phones will be placed on 4 levels on the shelf.

Two students sitting at the front of the class are assigned the task of reminding their classmates to take their phones from the shelf before leaving. The monitor is responsible for collecting and managing the phones.

Faced with Ms. Linh's solution to prevent students from using cell phones during class, 11/10 students unanimously responded and reminded each other.

Ms. Linh shared: "Currently, most students have the habit of using their phones. Even if they don't use them for anything important, many students take out their phones every now and then to look at them. This causes them to lose concentration during class.

Many students, when given a question, immediately use their phones to look up the answer. I hope this method will help students get rid of the habit of using their phones too much, especially during class."

Mr. Nguyen Cuu Huy, principal of Tran Phu High School, said that in the regulations on behaviors that students are not allowed to do, there is "using cell phones or other devices while studying in class that do not serve the purpose of studying and are not permitted by the teacher."

In which lessons, teachers allow students to use it. The school also has wifi coverage and each classroom has an internet port.

But in lessons that require students' concentration or creativity, teachers can proactively ask students to put their phones in their bags or in a common storage place like in class 11/10, which will be very convenient to manage and ensure transparency, fairness, and objectivity.

"The way the homeroom teacher of class 11/10 did it was very good. We did not impose a specific management method on students' phone usage for the whole school, but instead gave authority to subject teachers and homeroom teachers.

Any homeroom teacher who finds it suitable for their class can learn to implement it, as long as they ensure the best learning conditions for students," said Mr. Huy.
