Six years after his most recent visit to Vietnam, Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping's State visit to Vietnam from December 12-13 will certainly strengthen mutual political trust between the two countries and promote mutually beneficial cooperation, Xinhua News Agency wrote. The visit will also strengthen the relationship between the two peoples, creating a strong impetus to open a new stage in bilateral relations at a higher starting point. Over the years, both countries have had frequent high-level exchanges and made breakthroughs in substantive cooperation, while the relationship between the two countries has increasingly received widespread support from the people. The special relationship of "both comrades and brothers" between the two countries has brought benefits to the people of both countries, promoting peace and development in the region and the world. Friendship has been clearly demonstrated in each country's foreign policy, considering bilateral relations as a top priority. The leaders of the two sides have also established solid political trust and deep comradeship to chart the course for the future development of bilateral relations and put forward important strategic directions. Last October, President Xi Jinping met with Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong during his visit to China to attend the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Exactly one year earlier, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong became the first foreign leader to visit China after the 20th National Party Congress and was awarded the Friendship Medal of the People's Republic of China by General Secretary and President Xi Jinping. The two leaders exchanged visits in 2017, with Xi Jinping's state visit to Vietnam being his first overseas trip after the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Cooperation between the two countries has reached new heights as they celebrate 15 years of comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership this year. China has remained Vietnam's largest trading partner for many years, while Vietnam is China's largest trading partner in ASEAN. According to Xinhua, after Vietnamese durian officially entered the Chinese market last year, fruit and vegetable exports to China have grown significantly this year, with durian exports expected to reach the target of 1 billion USD.

China's investment in Vietnam has been increasing, ranking second in the first nine months of this year. In terms of people-to-people exchanges, more and more Chinese tourists are choosing Vietnam as a destination, while more and more Vietnamese students are choosing to study and work in China. Xinhua News Agency emphasized that today's world is undergoing changes at a speed unprecedented in a century, and socialist countries like China and Vietnam have both successfully developed their own modernization paths, based on national conditions and the trends of the times. "With common aspirations and efforts, the China-Vietnam friendship boat will surely head towards greater success," Xinhua News Agency concluded.
