This is the main content of the exercise situation that the engineering forces of Vietnam and India recently organized training and demonstration.

This content is within the framework of the Vietnam-India Bilateral Exercise on United Nations Peacekeeping in 2024 in India (VINBAX 2024).

The situation is structured and staged based on assumptions, taking place at the AKOKA base of the United Nations.

Accordingly, to ensure the mobility of United Nations forces on the road near the base, the engineering unit has the task of reconnaissance, scanning, and clearing bombs, mines, and unexploded ordnance left in the area.

Mission headquarters requested that the above task be completed 24 hours before the main force departed.

To carry out the task, the engineering platoon is divided into units: The security unit is divided into teams responsible for ensuring security in the front, flanks and rear.

The mine clearance unit is equipped with specialized equipment to detect obstacles, mines, and explosives on the road that have been marked with the United Nations blue flag.

Although participating in training and joint exercises for a short time, Vietnamese engineers have demonstrated their ability to read situations and handle situations with methodical, experienced and courageous operations.

Assessing the results of the scenario, Major Taranveer Singh of the 474 Brigade, Indian Engineers, the scenario director, appreciated but was not surprised by the capabilities of the Vietnamese engineers – who came from a country that had suffered the fierce devastation of war, where bombs, mines, and many unexploded ordnances remained after the war.

“This is also a good opportunity for us to learn and exchange experiences with Vietnamese soldiers. They are truly professional, experienced and brave,” Major Taranveer Singh emphasized.
