Built by French naval engineers in 1872, at the same time as Notre Dame Cathedral (1877-1880) and the City Post Office (1886-1891), it is currently the residence of the French Consuls General in Ho Chi Minh City.
In the reception area, where the French Consulate General holds events, visitors can admire the harmonious arrangement of furniture from the Nguyen Dynasty. Ancient artifacts represent the decorative and spiritual arts in Vietnam in the 19th and 20th centuries. One of the most beautiful works on display is the lacquer painting by the famous painter Nguyen Gia Tri entitled Procession , made in 1939.

In the French Palace there is also a garden of more than 1.5 hectares with many ancient trees.
The visit to the French Palace is part of the European Heritage Day - a French initiative. On this occasion, the public has the opportunity to visit buildings that are not normally open to visitors because they are used for other purposes (administrative, diplomatic , economic, etc.).
