On the morning of March 20, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists to launch the photo and video contest “Happy Vietnam”. The program was connected online to 63 connecting points in provinces and cities across the country. In Binh Thuan, there were representatives of leaders of relevant departments, agencies and media agencies.
At the launching ceremony, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam emphasized: Vietnam is one of 193 member countries of the United Nations committed to supporting actions for social security, building a sustainably developed country, and honoring the happiness of humanity in the world. The photo and video creation contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam 2024" is one of the key activities to promote human rights, contributing to strongly spreading noble human values, aiming to build an image of a happy Vietnam through new, objective perspectives of professional and non-professional authors at home and abroad.
In 2024, the contest will be held for the second time, launched nationwide to attract the participation of a large number of professional and amateur authors, both Vietnamese and foreign.
The photo and video composition contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam 2024" includes 2 categories: photo and video. The contest aims to discover and honor meaningful moments and stories in all aspects of Vietnam's political , economic, cultural and social life through photo and video works submitted by domestic and international authors, vividly demonstrating the achievements that Vietnam has achieved in the field of human rights. At the same time, mobilize the combined strength of all classes of people in the country, the overseas Vietnamese community and international friends in communication work, promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam to the world to affirm to the world that Vietnam is a peaceful, beautiful, dynamically developing and a happy country. The contest especially encourages the application of modern information and communication technology to create good communication effects for the public.
The entries must introduce and promote the image of the country, the Vietnamese people, cultural and natural values across the country; arouse national pride and aspirations for development in all classes of people to join hands in building an increasingly prosperous, wealthy and happy Vietnam. Reflect realistically and vividly the development achievements in all aspects of Vietnam's political, economic, cultural and social life, especially in the process of innovation, development and international integration. Convey valuable knowledge, attract strong public interest and have a wide spread at home and abroad.
For the digital photo category, the photo file must be in jpg format. The shortest dimension must be at least 3,000 pixels. The photo must not have borders or display information such as: name, watermark, location, etc.
For the video category, each author can submit a maximum of 10 works. The author's name must be taken from the name on the citizen identification card or passport. The works must be created using realistic methods, no photos that are cut, added, removed or distorted from reality are accepted (except for the panorama category).
Contest videos must be in digital format, video files must be in mp4 format. Video image quality must be at least Full HD or higher. Each video must be no longer than 5 minutes in length. File size must not exceed 200MB. Contest videos include the following genres: reportage, documentary, short video, skit... Videos must be original media products, copyrighted by the author, and must not be copied from any source without permission for copyright of images, sounds, dialogues... Characters appearing in the video must have the consent of the character or their guardian.
The work must have been created between January 1, 2022 and the date of submission. The work must not have been submitted to or won any previous competitions or exhibitions.
In addition, authors who win gold, silver, bronze, and encouragement medals in the photography category will be scored for titles and will be eligible to participate in the annual Excellent Photography Awards; award-winning and exhibition works will be considered for creative support according to the regulations of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists. For authors who are not yet members of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, each award-winning or exhibition work will be scored when considering membership according to the Association's regulations.
BOX: Prize value includes 1 gold medal worth 70 million VND, 2 silver medals worth 20 million VND, 3 bronze medals worth 10 million VND, 10 consolation prizes worth 5 million VND and 1 most voted work worth 5 million VND.
