- The role of Hai in "Fight to the Death in the Sky" is a challenging role for Loi Tran. How did you come to this role?
I went through 3 rounds of intense casting in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of my seniors, peers and juniors. Seeing the project of director Ham Tran, we had high expectations because we had watched many of his films and felt we had to try hard to be able to participate in this project Death Battle in the Air . Then I was lucky to be chosen by Ham Tran to play the role of Hai.

Do 100% of the action scenes yourself, always have trouble breathing due to lack of oxygen
- At the showcase event, the actors shared that while participating in "Flying to the Death", many people were injured because of the action scenes. What about you?
Watching the trailer of Deathmatch in the Air, the audience can see that this is a thrilling action film and brings strong feelings, so we had to prepare the action scenes very carefully. Therefore, from the time of practice, we were injured and when filming, it was even multiplied 10-20 times. If filming in a large space, it would be easier, but this is the first action film in Vietnam filmed on a real plane, moreover, the planes in the past were small, not wide-bodied like today.
Filming on a real plane with steel seats, every detail is 100% real, just a slight collision with the seat or the plane body can cause injury to the actors. So I have to praise the film crew for trying so hard. We passed the difficult tests and filmed in a narrow, crowded space. The plane is small but in addition to the actors, there are passengers and the film crew, so it is difficult to breathe. The lack of oxygen causes my physical strength to decline the fastest. The film records live sound, so when filming, the air conditioner must be turned off to ensure there is no noise.

That's why, many times my brothers and I suffered from low blood sugar, lack of oxygen leading to difficulty breathing and asked the director to stop filming to go outside to breathe and drink water, otherwise we wouldn't be able to bear it and immediately faint. Filming action scenes was already hot and lacking oxygen so everyone was tired.
With Deathmatch in the Sky, we have surpassed our limits. I have acted in many action movies before, but this movie was sometimes unbearable. I am grateful to be involved in this project. Especially Hai is a heavy role with more psychological changes than the action in previous movies.
In this film, I had a scene where I had to fight Thanh Son and dislocated my shoulder near the end of the film. I felt like I couldn't act anymore because I couldn't lift my arm. I had to ask the crew to tie my arm up with a rope, apply ice for about 15 minutes and then finish filming. Because I, like all the actors in Deathmatch in the Sky, performed 100% of the action scenes ourselves and didn't rely on stuntmen.

- When you finished playing the role of Hai in "Fighting in the Sky", did you feel "satisfied"? I heard that to play this role, Loi Tran turned down a role in a famous movie? Do you feel regretful for missing that opportunity?
I cannot forget the days when I could not sleep because my father had just passed away a few months ago. My mother had been sick for more than ten years and had to go to two hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City every three weeks. My brothers and sisters in Dong Nai took care of my mother, but in Ho Chi Minh City, I was always the one responsible.

When my mother went to Ho Chi Minh City for a medical examination, I had to answer the film crew about whether I could participate or not. I confided in my mother at the hospital that I was about to participate in a film that I really liked. But my mother was so sick that I was very hesitant, I couldn’t sleep for several days. If I went to work on the film, it would take 3-4 months and I couldn’t take care of my mother in Ho Chi Minh City. My mother said that if I went to the film, she would be very happy, but if my illness got worse, I didn’t know who would take care of me.
I was afraid that if something happened to my mother while filming and she couldn't come back in time, I would regret it for the rest of my life. I told the crew that and they understood. I would like to clarify that I did not refuse that role to play Hai in Death Battle in the Sky.
