"Death Battle in the Air" surpasses 100 billion VND mark

As of the evening of September 24, "Air Deathmatch" became the 10th Vietnamese film in 2025 to surpass the 100 billion VND revenue mark.

Specifically, as of 9 p.m. on September 24, the total revenue of Sky Deathmatch was 105,494,225,328 VND. This milestone was achieved after about 6 days of official release, plus revenue from early screenings from August 18 and pre-booked ticket sales.

On September 24 alone, the film still ranked number 1 on the box office chart with sales of more than 12 billion VND, far surpassing the revenue of its competitors chasing behind, Red Rain (more than 1.9 billion VND), Your Year, Your Day (more than 414 million VND) or BTS 2016 Live The Most Beautiful Moment In Life On Stage: Epilogue Remastered (more than 343 million VND).

This is also the first film by director Ham Tran to reach this impressive milestone. Before that, although he was behind many highly rated films: High Heel Conspiracy, Soul Snatcher, Maika: The Girl from Another Planet ... but they were not successful in terms of box office revenue.

Although the milestone of 100 billion VND for Sky Deathmatch took twice as long as Red Rain (3 days to reach 100 billion VND), this is still considered a very impressive sales figure, extending the excitement of the Vietnamese film market.

Red Rain is currently approaching the 700 billion VND mark, with current total revenue of 698,684,462,309 VND.

Previously, many experts predicted that Get Rich with Ghosts 2: Diamond War would be the 10th Vietnamese film to surpass the 100 billion VND revenue mark in 2025, but up to now, the film has only stopped at 99,897,093,480 VND.

According to critic Tuan Larlame, just the three movies released since the end of August, including Red Rain, Getting Rich with Ghosts 2 and Sky Deathmatch, have earned nearly 900 billion VND.

Critic Tuan Larlame commented that, basically, it is feasible for Sky Deathmatch to reach the 200 billion mark. Therefore, the revenue of 1,000 billion for the occasion of September 2 and around this time is within reach of Vietnamese cinema.

He also believes that with such high revenue, there is a right to hope for Vietnamese cinema works to be invested in production with several million USD to export to the world .
