Hanoi FC announced two new recruits this afternoon (August 27). Both players have just parted ways with Song Lam Nghe An after the Nghe An team ended the 2023 V-League season.

Xuan Manh will wear the number 7 shirt at Hanoi FC in the 2023/2024 season. Meanwhile, Nguyen Van Hoang will wear the number 5 shirt - a number not usually given to goalkeepers. The rare case of a goalkeeper wearing the number 5 shirt was Ulbaldo Fillol of the Argentina team at the 1978 World Cup.

Nguyen Van Hoang was trained in the youth team of Hanoi FC. He debuted in the V-League with Saigon FC before joining his hometown team SLNA in the 2020 season. The goalkeeper born in 1995 played 4 seasons for the Nghe An team, appearing in 61 matches in the V-League arena.

Meanwhile, Xuan Manh is a product of SLNA. He has played for the Nghe An team in the V-League since 2016, appearing in 127 matches at the highest professional level of Vietnamese football. He quickly became a mainstay of SLNA as a defender, midfielder, and even at times played as a striker.

In 2021, Xuan Manh renewed his contract with his hometown team. At the end of the 2023 V-League season, Xuan Manh's contract with SLNA still has 1 year left. However, the Nghe An team accepted to let the player born in 1996 leave according to his personal wishes.

Hanoi FC will soon add more players even though the 2023 season has not ended. The capital team needs to strengthen its squad to prepare for the 2023/2024 AFC Champions League and the next V-League season which will start in October.
