According to the famous fashion , beauty and lifestyle magazine Grazia, more and more French retirees are looking to Da Nang as an ideal destination, surpassing Portugal or Morocco thanks to its low cost of living and peaceful seaside setting.
When it comes to retiring abroad, Portugal has long been considered the top choice for the French with its mild climate, long beaches and cheaper living standards than in the country, the magazine quoted a VNA reporter in Paris as saying.
However, a new name is emerging: Da Nang city, located in the South Central Coast region of Vietnam. Dubbed the “Miami of Asia,” it attracts with its warm sunshine, blue sea and a relaxed pace of life.
Unlike the crowded Ho Chi Minh City or the capital Hanoi , Da Nang still maintains a gentle pace of life. The elderly can leisurely stroll along My Khe beach, visit the early market, enjoy filter coffee by the beach or find inspiration from the tropical light to read books and draw pictures.
Da Nang combines both elements: modern infrastructure with hospitals, services, convenient cafes, while maintaining a close-knit local lifestyle.
Grazia rates Da Nang's strongest point as its rental prices. A one-bedroom apartment, near the beach or the center, ranges from 300 to 600 euros/month. A two-bedroom house or apartment is around 500-900 euros.
For this price, retirees can live comfortably in fully furnished apartments, even including air conditioning and some additional services, while still being close to the sea and bustling neighborhoods.
The local cuisine is also a plus. Small eateries serve fresh meals for just a few euros, while traditional markets sell a wealth of vegetables, seafood and spices at unbeatable prices.
City transportation is also budget-friendly: taxis, ride-hailing services, and buses are all cheap.
In many areas, residents can even walk or travel by motorbike in their daily lives./.
