According to the Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Da Nang, the city's policy is to have no homeless beggars. Therefore, in the case of homeless foreigners, they will be taken to the Social Protection Center to receive food and accommodation support, and to find out the reasons for their wandering and begging.
"If they are tourists, we will verify which group brought them? How did they enter Vietnam? Depending on each case, we will report to the City People's Committee for comments and resolution," said Mr. Hoang.
According to the representative of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, an employee of the Department came to work with the tourist when he discovered that this person was standing and asking for money and offered to support. However, the male tourist did not respond and left. Most recently, on the afternoon of March 3, when the male tourist appeared at the intersection of Hoang Dieu Street (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City), an officer of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Da Nang City was present to remind him and today, March 4, the above tourist did not appear to ask for money.
"The Russian tourist has a tourist visa in Vietnam until March 14. According to the department's officials, in recent days, this tourist has been begging for money during the day and going to some bars in the area at night. The Department of Tourism's quick processing team also asked this person if he needed any assistance, but he said no and then left," a representative of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Da Nang informed.
Currently, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs has assigned the district and county forces to continue monitoring. If tourists are found asking for money, they will coordinate with the Immigration Department (Da Nang City Police), the Department of Foreign Affairs and related agencies to jointly handle the matter.
