“His words echo across the country” is an art exchange program recently organized by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union - the Provincial Veterans Association - the Literature and Arts Association of Quang Ninh province to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh's Testament (1969-2024). The program is a harmonious combination of historical films, meaningful exchanges and unique art performances, leaving many emotions in the hearts of viewers.

The program with unique art performances, leaving many emotions in the hearts of viewers.

The program, held in Ha Long City on the evening of October 4, was an emotional journey that took viewers back to the historic month of May 1965, when Uncle Ho began the first lines of the "top secret" document. Touching footage of Uncle Ho sitting on a rattan chair writing or typing on a wooden table, including a Hermet typewriter, Uncle Ho personally wrote or typed the Will (1965 version) or the moment at 9:47 a.m. on September 2, 1969, when Uncle Ho passed away after a heart attack, becoming the "pause of history".

In addition to the documentary films about the Testament, the program was also connected by emotional exchanges. That was the story of veteran Le Long Trieu, who had spent 19 years fighting on the battlefield in the Southeast, permanently disabled with a bullet still lodged in his brain and his legs no longer intact. He tearfully told tragic but heroic stories, about the loss in return for glory for the country, about the burning enthusiasm of the youth who followed the call of the Fatherland during a time of bombs and bullets. The whole audience choked up when hearing him sing the tearful lyrics of the song "Cuc oi" by author Nguyen Trung Nguyen with Yen Thanh's poem; about the crimes of the American invaders in the 1968 war of destruction in the North that killed 10 young volunteer girls at the Dong Loc crossroads: “The squad lined up/ I don’t see you coming back, Cuc!/ Nine friends gathered/ Only you are missing/ You lie somewhere obscured by smoke and fire/ Dong Loc is a desolate place, the birds have left the flock…”.

Veteran Le Long Trieu choked up while performing the song "Cuc oi".

Those are also the soaring and poignant words of the song “The Country Lifts Our Steps” composed and performed by young musician and singer Bui Tuan Ngoc, a son of the Quang Ninh Mining Region. Each melody and each lyric are tributes from the young generation to the heroes and martyrs who fell for the independence and unification of the country: “Every step and every road we take every day/ Are months and years of struggle, day and night hearing the sound of bombs falling/ Is when we lose a loved one, we have to hold back our tears/ Guns in hand, shoulder to shoulder, comrades keeping the Fatherland safe…”.

Young musician and singer Bui Tuan Ngoc sends his gratitude to the previous generation through the song "The Country Lifts Us Up".

The art performances were elaborately staged, with a series of soulful songs about Uncle Ho performed by singers and artists of Quang Ninh such as Duc Bac, Duc Luong, Thanh Tam, Phuong Anh, along with flute and monochord solos by members of the Provincial Veterans Association, bringing the audience into a musical space rich in art and imbued with emotions; portraying the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh - the symbol of the flag of national liberation struggle, of friendship, of national solidarity, and international solidarity. That was also the journey of more than half a century under the leadership of the Party, the entire nation united in determination to implement Uncle Ho's Testament.

Over the past 55 years, President Ho Chi Minh's Testament has always been a guiding torch, a source of encouragement for the Party Committee, the government and the people of all ethnic groups in Quang Ninh province to firmly move forward to win not only in the past historical stages, but also in the present and the future. The Party Committee, the government and all the people of Quang Ninh wholeheartedly turn to Uncle Ho, steadfastly follow the path that the Party and Uncle Ho have chosen, vowing to build Quang Ninh into a "vast and peaceful" land as Uncle Ho instructed.
