(NLDO)- On the morning of March 5, a fire at Mong Cai international border gate injured 4 people, including 1 customs officer and 3 Vietnamese citizens.
According to initial information from the People's Committee of Mong Cai City ( Quang Ninh Province), at about 8:15 a.m. on March 5, a fire broke out at the baggage and goods inspection and supervision area of Mong Cai International Border Gate Customs (Bac Luan I Bridge area), Tran Phu Ward, Mong Cai City.
The fire burned fiercely, black smoke covered the area of Mong Cai International Border Gate, the authorities at Mong Cai International Border Gate quickly put out the fire and controlled it.
At the above time, a Vietnamese citizen, while completing immigration procedures to enter Vietnam through Mong Cai international border gate, was carrying a backpack containing coiled goods.
When arriving at the inspection and supervision area for imported goods and luggage, this citizen's backpack containing goods spontaneously caught fire and burned 4 people, including 1 officer of Mong Cai Customs Branch and 3 Vietnamese citizens.
Traffic police were present in time to coordinate to maintain traffic order in the Mong Cai International Border Gate area after the fire.
Currently, immigration activities are taking place normally.
Immediately after the incident, authorities at the border gate promptly organized rescue of victims, moved property to a safe place and extinguished the fire.
Leaders of Mong Cai City and the Border Guard Command of Quang Ninh Province also went to the scene to direct the work of overcoming the consequences; stabilize the situation, arrange traffic flow, and organize normal immigration and exit activities.
Currently, Mong Cai International Border Guard Station is coordinating with relevant authorities to investigate, verify and clarify the cause of the incident.
