Evaluation of the implementation results of the tasks under the NN Project

Today, August 5, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the Institute of Food Crops (Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Sciences) to organize a conference to evaluate the implementation results of the tasks under Project NN-08 in 2024 in Quang Tri province. Project NN-08 in 2024 has the task of building a production model and transferring seed production technology of rice varieties: Gia Loc 26, Gia Loc 35 and green bean variety 12DX02 in Quang Tri province, implemented by the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center in coordination with the Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants.

The project's content aims to build a production model for Gia Loc 26 and Gia Loc 35 rice varieties with a scale of 30 hectares (Gia Loc 26 rice 15 hectares and Gia Loc 35 rice 15 hectares), build a production model for green bean variety 12DX02 with a scale of 30 hectares at cooperatives in the districts of Trieu Phong, Hai Lang, Gio Linh.

The results of the implementation in the 2023 - 2024 winter-spring crop and the 2024 summer-autumn crop show that both Gia Loc 26 and Gia Loc 35 rice varieties are adaptable and suitable to the land, soil and weather conditions in the production areas, with mild infection of sheath blight and leaf rollers, giving quite high yields (in the 2023 - 2024 winter-spring crop, Gia Loc 26 rice variety yields 50 quintals/ha, Gia Loc 35 rice variety yields 70 - 75 quintals/ha; in the 2024 summer-autumn crop, Gia Loc 35 rice variety yields 65 - 68 quintals/ha).

In particular, Gia Loc 35 rice variety has many outstanding advantages such as high yield, good rice quality, low pest and disease infection, can be put into mass production structure, replacing HC95 variety.

For the 12DX02 mung bean variety through the 2024 summer-autumn crop, it shows that the alluvial land along the river has the ability to adapt, develop better, has a higher rate of flowering, fruiting and yielding than the loam and rice fields of the previous crop. The expected yield is 1.5 tons/ha. With the market price fluctuating between 24,000 - 25,000 VND/kg, after deducting costs, the profit is about 20 - 25 million VND/ha.

Concluding the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong requested that departments, branches and sectors need to focus on leading and directing agricultural development in the direction of large-scale concentration, applying new technical advances, value chain production, and agricultural development to serve as a foundation to promote the development of other sectors.

Quang Tri province always respectfully invites and creates favorable conditions for ministries, branches and central agencies to cooperate, coordinate production and develop new scientific and technological products of the project.

It is recommended that the NN-08 Project Team continue to pay attention to and support the province in replicating the results of rice and mung bean production models that have proven effective in 2024 to deploy and replicate them throughout the province, especially in the mountainous districts of Dakrong and Huong Hoa as well as agricultural production areas without irrigation water in the summer-autumn crop, converting some dry crops with high economic efficiency.

In addition, it is necessary to transfer scientific and technological advances, modern technology, and apply appropriate farming methods and effective agricultural models. Transfer models of growing vegetables and beans of all kinds in suburban areas; models of raising pigs, chickens and ducks on biological bedding, disease-free; models of raising goats in cages in ethnic minority areas; models of raising some specialty aquatic products... At the same time, transfer and apply mechanization models in production stages to achieve "footprint-free" fields...
