Donating 2 million standard helmets to first graders nationwide

About 2 million qualified helmets will be given to first graders nationwide in the 2023-2024 school year. This activity is a continuation of the program "Giving helmets to first graders" implemented by the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training and Honda Vietnam Company nationwide from 2018 to 2020.

Mr. Khuat Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee and representatives of units presented helmets to first grade students of Phu Do Primary School.

On September 25, at Phu Do Primary School (Hanoi), the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training and Honda Vietnam Company jointly organized the Announcement Ceremony of the Program to donate 2 million helmets to first graders nationwide in the 2023-2024 school year, combined with improving traffic safety knowledge for students and parents.

At the ceremony, the parties agreed and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the main contents such as: 100% of first graders nationwide receive standard helmets from Honda Vietnam Company; Strengthen activities to share knowledge of traffic safety, skills to predict and avoid risks for students and their parents.

Through the helmet donation events for the 2023-2024 school year, it is estimated that about 2 million students and 200,000 parents will have their knowledge and skills in safe traffic participation improved.

Students are instructed to wear helmets properly.

At the ceremony, many qualified helmets were presented to first graders of Phu Do Primary School. Mr. Koji Sugita, General Director of Honda Vietnam Company, shared that the Company is committed to accompanying agencies to contribute to realizing the goal of the Vietnamese Government "ZERO deaths due to road traffic accidents by 2045", as well as Honda's global goal "ZERO deaths due to traffic collisions involving Honda Motorcycles and Automobiles" by 2050.

Towards that long-term goal, Honda Vietnam Company decided to donate 2 million helmets to first graders nationwide.

At the same time, realizing the importance of using standard helmets when participating in traffic, as well as the desire to form the habit of wearing helmets for first graders - children who are at the age of forming their thinking about the world around them, Honda Vietnam is honored to give safety standard helmets to students nationwide in the important and memorable moment of entering first grade.

This is the premise to form the habit of wearing helmets among motorbike users in Vietnam, thereby increasing the rate of wearing helmets that meet National Technical Regulations to 100% and forming the habit of wearing helmets among motorbike users in Vietnam.

At the program, Mr. Thai Van Tai - Director of the Department of Primary Education (Ministry of Education and Training) said that, promoting the results achieved in the past 3 years (2018, 2019, 2020), this year, the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training and Honda Vietnam Company agreed to continue implementing the fourth year of the program to give 2 million helmets to first graders nationwide in the 2023 - 2024 school year with the theme "Keeping the dream".

This is a practical and specific activity to promote the implementation of Directive No. 23-CT/TW dated May 25, 2023 of the Party Central Committee Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in ensuring traffic order and safety in the new situation; Directive 10/CT-TTg dated April 19, 2023 of the Prime Minister on strengthening the work of ensuring traffic order and safety in the new situation.

The Ministry of Education and Training is committed to organizing the reception and giving of practical helmets to first graders during the solemn and meaningful flag-raising days of the week.

At the same time, organize for parents to sign a commitment to have students wear helmets when participating in traffic...

Mr. Khuat Viet Hung, Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee, said that although traffic accidents have decreased significantly compared to previous years, the Party and State always identify reducing traffic accidents and eliminating the pain caused by traffic accidents as a very important annual political task.

The Vietnamese Government's goal is "zero deaths from road traffic accidents by 2045.

"For 3 consecutive years (2018, 2019, 2020), Honda Vietnam Company has given helmets to all first graders nationwide. In particular, in Hanoi, this year Honda Vietnam Company continues to give helmets to first and second graders. Thus, from now until October, all primary school students in Hanoi will be given standard helmets," Mr. Hung emphasized.

Also according to Mr. Khuat Viet Hung, along with the decision to give 2 million helmets to first graders nationwide this year, the total number of helmets given by Honda Vietnam Company is up to nearly 8.6 million.

The program of giving helmets to first graders combined with improving traffic safety knowledge for students and their parents will contribute to realizing the Vietnamese Government's goal of "No deaths due to road traffic accidents by 2045", as well as Honda's global goal of "No deaths due to traffic collisions involving Honda motorbikes and cars" by 2050.
