Ethnic minorities and mountainous areas have always received great attention from our Party and State through many priority policies and strategies.

In terms of press, from central press agencies to newspapers, magazines, industry and local newsletters, there are columns and pages on mountainous topics. Many news, economic , cultural and artistic programs broadcast on radio and television stations focus on ethnic and mountainous topics, along with the Vietnamese channel, which is the language channel for ethnic minorities.

Making a true journalistic work is not simple, this is even more difficult with ethnic and mountainous topics. Because to have a work that is authentic, vivid, and accepted by the public, especially ethnic minorities, one must work in a difficult and remote area, must find a suitable topic that life needs to speak up, must express it professionally... To do so, one must have a good understanding of the mountainous areas, know the customs, habits, and even know the language of ethnic minorities. To do so, it must be a learning process, cannot just "ride a horse to see the flowers".

Perhaps a little related to literature, the public remembers the story “A Phu’s Wife” by writer To Hoai because the work successfully recreates the cultural identity of a region and ethnic group in the Northwest, from the way of thinking, speech to cultural identity. Many works of spoken, visual, printed and photo newspapers about the Central Highlands have won awards or received much attention because they highlight stories and details typical of the Central Highlands, which are of interest to many people and are close to the feelings of the people here.

To understand a land and have quality journalistic works, one must first have love for that land and must know how to dedicate oneself to the profession. For example, with the identity of the Central Highlands, as information from the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee has summarized as important suggestions and instructions: “The ethnic minorities of the Central Highlands have a rich and diverse indigenous culture, with unique writing, costumes, folk music , and culinary culture. The Central Highlands has many extremely valuable tangible and intangible cultural heritages, such as lithophones, gongs, and various types of folk cultural activities, rich community activities, and a unique treasure trove of folk literature.

Currently, the Central Highlands is a place that still preserves many tangible and intangible cultural heritages, both of historical value and unique aesthetic value such as communal houses, long houses, lithophones, tomb statues, festivals and folk literature treasures with epic poems, folk tales, fables, rhymes, folk songs imbued with identity passed down through many generations. One of the famous heritages is the Central Highlands Gong Cultural Space, which has been recognized by UNESCO as a representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity"...

The initiative to organize the Central Highlands Press Awards in recent times is very commendable, creating a driving force for journalists here. Recently, the excellent press works about the Central Highlands in the 2nd Central Highlands Press Awards in 2025 include the 4-part report "Keeping the deep roots of the Central Highlands" by the group of authors Le Thi Thu Huong, Le Quoc Thanh, Dinh Thi Thanh Nga (Dak Lak Newspaper) - print and electronic newspaper genres, and the work "MV "Thu Ca" and young people want to go far" by the group of authors Nguyen Huu Hoa Giang, Tran Tran Bao Ngoc, Nguyen Thi Hai Ha, Nguyen Vo Tung Lam of Gia Lai Radio and Television Station (now Gia Lai Newspaper) - radio and television genres... are specific examples.
