In the admission information announced in early May, Foreign Trade University stipulated the entry threshold for admission by transcript. Accordingly, candidates must have a total high school graduation exam score of at least 1 of the admission subject groups of at least 24 points. This score does not include priority and incentive points.
Many candidates taking the D00 (math, literature, English) and A01 (math, physics, English) exams are worried about losing their chance to be admitted to the Foreign Trade University because they "slipped" below the 24-point mark in the recent high school graduation exam.

Nguyen Trung Kien (born 2007, Quang Ninh ) won third prize in the provincial excellent student competition, his 3-year high school transcripts were all above 9.0, and he has applied to the Foreign Trade University. Kien was very confident about his goal of 24 points, but now he estimates he will only get 23-23.5 points.
"The math and English tests were harder than I imagined. I only got about 8 points in math, 7.75 in English and 7 points in literature. Because I have an IELTS certificate of 6.5, I was able to convert it to 8.5 points in English without having to use my graduation exam score. However, my total score still did not reach 24. I was very sad and worried, because Foreign Trade was my number one wish," Kien said.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, a representative of Foreign Trade University said that a new point of the quality assurance threshold is that there may be adjustments after the 2025 high school graduation exam score spectrum is available.
"Because this year is the first year of graduation exams under the new general education program, the school predicts that there may be fluctuations in the score distribution. Therefore, the school has clearly noted in the admission information about the entrance threshold.
Candidates can rest assured that the school will rely on the official score distribution to come up with the optimal solution, ensuring the selection of suitable candidates for each training program in the fairest way," said a school representative.
In case the score range fluctuates sharply, Foreign Trade University may adjust the entrance threshold below 24 points.

A representative of a top university training in semiconductors also shared a similar opinion.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that the entrance threshold for candidates applying for the semiconductor industry is a minimum of 24 points on a 30-point scale, and a minimum of 8 points in math on a 10-point scale in the high school graduation exam.
A school representative commented: "With this year's math exam, if the requirement that candidates need to achieve 8 points in math to be able to register for the semiconductor major remains, schools will not be able to enroll students."
This person said that when there is an official score distribution, if the average math score is lower than in 2024, the school will propose to the Ministry of Education and Training to lower the entrance score threshold for math.
The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26-27. The math, English and literature exams are considered more difficult than the sample exam. The English exam alone exceeds the level 3 standard - the high school output standard.
Recently, the Academy of Finance's website shared the prediction of Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Dao Tung - Director of the Academy - about this year's admission benchmarks. Mr. Tung commented that the admission benchmarks of top universities will decrease by 3-5 points. Meanwhile, middle-ranked universities will decrease by 3-4 points.
