The Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board has just sent a document requesting the Ministry of Construction to comment on the suitability of the Nam Do Son Port and Logistics Center Project for specialized planning and seaport system development planning.
This is a project proposed by Vingroup Corporation, expected to be implemented in Kien Hai commune and Nam Do Son ward, Hai Phong city on a land area of up to 4,319.1 hectares.
The most important works at the Nam Do Son Port and Logistics Center Project include: investment and exploitation of the port area with a scale of 21 ports (42 wharves/18,900 m) to accommodate ships with a tonnage of up to 200,000 DWT (port area of 1,134 ha, water area in front of the wharf of 189 ha).
Construction, investment and business of infrastructure for secondary investors in the construction of industrial facilities, logistics centers, warehouses and logistics on a total area of 2,878.5 hectares.
The project also invests in a shared connecting main road from the end of the road after the state-invested port to the end of the project boundary (area 117.6 hectares).
Vingroup proposes that by 2030, the port area of the Project will have a capacity of about 2 million teus/year; by 2035, increase the capacity to about 24 million teus/year; by 2040, increase the capacity to about 42 million teus/year.
The logistics area after the port (including providing land with infrastructure to build logistics warehouses and administrative services) will have an area of about 375 hectares by 2030; about 1,689 hectares by 2035; and about 2,015 hectares by 2040.
Specifically, in the period from 2026 to 2030, the Project will deploy 2 wharves/900 meters long with a synchronous port rear system, 535.6 ha logistics center infrastructure behind the port and about 3.9 km of shared connecting main axis road.
In the period of 2031 - 2035, the Project will construct an additional 22 wharves/9,900 meters long with a synchronous port rear system; a logistics center infrastructure of 1,876.7 hectares; about 8.1 km of shared main road.
In the period of 2036 - 2040, the Project will construct 18 additional wharves/8,100 meters long with a synchronous port rear system; the logistics center infrastructure will be about 466.2 hectares wide.
The Nam Do Son Port and Logistics Center Project has a total investment capital of VND 373,841 billion; the investor's contributed capital is VND 56,076.2 billion; the project's operating period is 70 years.
In the period of 2025 - 2026, the investor proposes to carry out investment preparation work including submitting to the People's Committee of Hai Phong City for approval of the investment policy; Detailed construction planning at a scale of 1/500; submitting for appraisal and approval of the project feasibility study report (initial phase); Environmental impact assessment report; designing construction drawings, bidding, selecting construction contractors; carrying out procedures for land lease and land allocation...
In the 2027 - 2030 period, the investor will start construction of the Project (start-up phase) in early 2027, deploying the construction of 2 wharves/900 meters long with a synchronous port rear system; 535.6 ha logistics center infrastructure behind the port and about 3.9 km of shared connecting main axis road. The project is expected to be put into operation from 2030.
In the period 2031 - 2035, the investor plans to build an additional 22 wharves/9,900 meters long with a synchronous port rear system, a 1,876.7 ha logistics center infrastructure and about 8.1 km of shared connecting main axis roads. The project is expected to be put into operation from 2033.
In the period 2036 - 2040, the investor will build an additional 18 wharves/8,100 meters long with a synchronous port rear system, 466.2 ha of logistics center infrastructure. The project is expected to be put into operation from 2038.
