The event was co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development at Tan Phat Dia Agricultural Products Distribution Center.

This is the largest fruit wholesale market in Beijing, distributing all kinds of fruits from around the world officially imported into China.

Lots of potential but not yet exploited effectively

Vietnam Fruit Festival with the theme "Vietnamese Fruit - Four Seasons of Deliciousness". According to Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, this is an important trade promotion event, on the sidelines of the 13th Session of the Vietnam - China Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee.

With an annual output of 12-14 million tons, Vietnam’s fruit products not only meet domestic consumption needs but also serve exports. Export turnover reaches nearly 3.5 billion USD per year with fresh fruit products and processed products.

The Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has brought practical benefits to both sides. Mr. Dien said that Vietnam is currently the third largest partner of China in the world (after Thailand and Chile) supplying fruit products to this market.

In particular, more and more Vietnamese fruits are officially exported to China.

Outstanding product quality, clear traceability. Meets plant quarantine standards. Products have standardized packaging facilities, packaging and labels in accordance with Chinese standards and regulations.

However, Mr. Dien said that the results achieved have not matched the potential. Vietnamese fruits are still mainly exported to China through border trade. Therefore, they mainly meet the needs of some localities in the southern and southeastern regions of China and provinces adjacent to Vietnam.

In other localities, the presence of Vietnamese fruit products is still quite modest. While the demand for fruit consumption in the Chinese market is very large. The ability to supply high-quality, specialty fruits of Vietnam is very abundant.

Taking advantage of the opportunity to export fruit to a market of 1.4 billion people

Mr. Dien proposed that Chinese authorities continue to coordinate and facilitate quarantine and customs clearance of goods, and resolve issues related to bilateral economic and trade policies.

It is necessary to facilitate cooperation and trade activities between the business communities of the two countries. In particular, it is necessary to continue opening the market and expanding the list of Vietnamese fruits and agricultural products that can be officially exported to China.

According to Ly Ngan, Deputy Director of the Asian Department - Ministry of Commerce of China, China is the largest export market for fruits and vegetables of Vietnam. In 2023, Vietnam's agricultural exports to China accounted for 21% of Vietnam's total agricultural export turnover to the world.

With the joint efforts of both sides, high-quality Vietnamese fruits such as durian, dragon fruit, banana, mango, etc. have appeared in the market of 1.4 billion people. At the same time, food products produced in Vietnam such as coffee and pho are also favored by many Chinese consumers.

"I hope Vietnamese businesses will take advantage of this opportunity and actively explore the Chinese market. I hope Beijing residents will also seize this rare opportunity to enjoy delicious Vietnamese fruits and introduce this unique fruit flavor to their friends and relatives," said Mr. Dien.
