At Thanh Tri Stadium on the afternoon of September 18, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club I had a difficult match against the mid-ranked team Vietnam Coal and Minerals in round 4 of the 2025 National Women's Championship.

Despite being considered weaker, Vietnam Coal and Minerals surprised everyone by taking the lead. In the 18th minute, Nguyen Thi Van made an accurate pass for Nguyen Thi Truc Huong to score against Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club I, opening the score.

During the remaining time of the match, Huynh Nhu, Thuy Trang and their teammates tried everything to find an equalizer but were not successful once. The representative from Quang Ninh actively retreated deep to defend firmly, giving the game to the defending champion and maintaining the score of 1-0 until the end of the match.

This is the first loss of HCMC Women's Club I after 4 matches since the beginning of the tournament. This defeat caused them to lose the top spot to Hanoi Women's Club.

The capital team had a 2-0 victory over HCMC II Women's Club in the same match that took place the day before, thereby rising to the top of the rankings with 10 points, 1 point more than HCMC I.

In round 5 of the 2025 National Women's Championship, which is also the last match of the first leg, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club I will meet Hanoi to determine the top spot. This match will take place at 3:30 p.m. on September 22 at PVF Center Stadium ( Hung Yen ).

Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club I is the team with the most national championships in Vietnamese women's football with 14 championships. Hanoi is second with 10 championships.
