Pedal boat service on Xuan Huong Lake is back in operation

After more than half a year of suspension to carry out legal procedures as prescribed, the Pelado (pedaling) service on Xuan Huong Lake has been allowed to operate again.

In response to the actual needs of tourists during the summer and in preparation for the National Day holiday on September 2, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat has proposed the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province to allow the operation of duck pedal boat services on Xuan Huong Lake, while waiting for bidding procedures according to regulations.

After more than half a year of inactivity, the pedal boat service on Xuan Huong Lake, a favorite choice for many tourists, has resumed operations.

Previously, the management of Xuan Huong Lake's water surface belonged to the Center for Investment Management and Exploitation of Irrigation Works in Da Lat (under the People's Committee of the old Da Lat City). On July 1, 2025, when implementing the 2-level local government, this unit was transferred to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province.

As reported by Lam Dong Electronic Newspaper, from October 2024, the business of pedal boat services has been temporarily suspended. According to the provisions of the 2017 Law on Water Resources, Decree 67/2018/ND-CP dated May 14, 2018 of the Government detailing a number of articles of the Law on Water Resources, the units exploiting this service must complete the bidding documents and apply for an operating license at the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the old Lam Dong province.

One of the two boat docks providing pedal boat service on Xuan Huong Lake has welcomed guests again.

Accordingly, from the end of 2024, the People's Committee of the old Da Lat City has requested that pedal boat service businesses at Xuan Huong Lake temporarily stop operations, pending completion of licensing procedures according to legal regulations.

Many tourists and locals have expressed regret that the typical service on Xuan Huong Lake, which has existed for more than 30 years, had to temporarily stop operating.
