Northern Electricity ensures safe and stable power supply for the 2024 high school graduation exam

The 2024 High School Graduation Exam will take place at the end of June. Electricity in 27 northern provinces and cities has proactively worked and coordinated with the Steering Committee and local Examination Councils to ensure electricity for all examination sites.

In May, the Northern Power Corporation (EVNNPC) safely and stably operated the power grid, ensuring electricity supply for people's lives and socio-economic development in 27 northern provinces and cities. Commercial electricity output reached 8.639 billion kWh, up 18.44% compared to May 2023. In the first 5 months of 2024, commercial electricity reached 38.393 billion kWh, up 14.09% over the same period and reaching 40.44% of the annual plan assigned by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN).

Regarding customer service business, the entire Corporation has received and resolved power supply for 215 medium-voltage customers, the average time to resolve procedures of the electricity industry is 3.26 days, a decrease of 0.22 days compared to the same period in 2023. Accumulated in the first 5 months of 2024, the entire Corporation has provided power supply for 927 medium-voltage customers, the average time to resolve procedures of the electricity industry is 3.32 days, a decrease of 0.19 days compared to the same period in 2023, a decrease of 3.68 days compared to EVN's regulations.

The rate of customers paying electricity bills without using cash by May 2024 reached 87.58%, 0.45% higher than the target assigned by EVN in 2024; revenue through non-cash payment channels reached 97.11%.

The Corporation continues to effectively implement Directive No. 20/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on enhancing electricity saving in the period of 2023 - 2025 and the following years; and the instructions of Vietnam Electricity Group on the situation of electricity supply and efficient electricity use in the dry season of 2024. At the same time, strictly control the recording of indexes and issuance of invoices during the hot season to avoid errors for customers.

In the investment and construction of 110kV power projects, the Corporation has started 2 projects and energized 7 projects.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thien, General Director of EVNNPC, visited the Shock Team of Vinh Phuc Electricity Company participating in supporting the 500kV line project, circuit 3, at the construction site at position 21, Ninh Cuong town, Truc Ninh, Nam Dinh.

Faced with the urgent need to complete the 500kV Circuit 3 Project from Quang Trach - Pho Noi as requested by the Government and Vietnam Electricity Group, 38 Shock Teams with more than 500 officers and employees of the Northern Power Corporation set off on May 30, 2024 to support the construction at the 500kV Circuit 3 construction site. Determining this as an important task, the Shock Teams were selected as typical electricians with enough capacity, volunteering, ready to "overcome the sun, overcome the rain", working in the spirit of "3 shifts, 4 teams" to contribute to completing the project on schedule.

Use electricity wisely during peak hours

In early June 2024, floods and rains occurred in some northern mountainous provinces. It is forecasted that in June and the following months, the weather situation will continue to have unpredictable developments. The Corporation has issued a telegram on proactively responding to heavy rains, flash floods, landslides and flooding in the North. Units strictly follow the Corporation's instructions to proactively respond to natural disasters, ensure human safety, limit property damage; monitor the weather on mass media. Organize the implementation of the 4-on-the-spot motto, quickly overcome incidents, and promptly restore power supply to customers.

To effectively carry out the task of ensuring safe and stable power supply for the high school graduation exam in 27 northern provinces, the Electricity Companies proactively work and coordinate with the Steering Committee and local Examination Councils to grasp the list, locations and power supply needs, develop plans and organize to ensure power for all exam locations and serve the exam in the best way.

Hot weather is one of the main reasons leading to high electricity bills for customers. Therefore, it is necessary to use electricity economically, especially during peak hours at noon (from 11:00 to 15:00) and in the evening (from 19:00 to 23:00), use air conditioning reasonably, only turn on the air conditioner when really necessary, set the temperature at 26-27 degrees Celsius or higher. In addition, people should not use many high-capacity electrical appliances at the same time during peak hours. Northern Power Corporation hopes that customers and people will increase solutions for safe, economical and effective electricity use; both saving costs for customers and contributing to saving national resources.
