Ho Chi Minh City delegation visited and worked at Naval Region 2, Gemalink International Port, Phu My 3 Industrial Park

On October 12, the delegation attending the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress visited and worked at Naval Region 2, Gemalink International Port, and Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park.

On the morning of October 12, the delegation attending the Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress visited typical works and landmarks before the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress.

After experiencing metro line 1 and offering incense and flowers to commemorate the Hung Kings and Lord Nguyen Huu Canh, the delegates divided into three groups to visit and work with units, projects, and industrial park port clusters in Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City (old).

Respect the dedication of the Navy

The delegation led by Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Phuoc Loc visited and worked with the Naval Region 2 Command, visited Gemalink Port and Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park.

At the meeting, Colonel Trieu Thanh Tung - Deputy Commander of Naval Region 2 - informed that after 16 years of establishment, Naval Region 2 is the core force of the Navy in managing and protecting maritime sovereignty .

This is an area of ​​over 300,000km², stretching from Son My commune (Lam Dong province) to Ganh Hao commune ( Ca Mau province), focusing on DK1 and DK2 areas, in the coastal area of ​​Ho Chi Minh City.

This area is a strategic location, rich in seafood resources, regularly has a large number of fishing vessels operating, but is also a sensitive and complex area.

Over the years, Naval Region 2 has always received great attention and support from the Party Committee, government, and people, implementing many meaningful projects such as cultural campus, swimming pool, concentrated production area, and projects on DK1 platforms with a budget of 20 billion VND.

Representing the delegation, Mr. Tran Van Tuan - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council - said that the city always respects the sacrifices and contributions of soldiers in general, and Navy Region 2 in particular, for the peace of the Fatherland and the development of Ho Chi Minh City.

"The city will strengthen and consolidate the relationship and coordinate with the Command of Region 2 in national defense and security work, propaganda about seas and islands, national defense education, ensuring a solid national defense bloc and people's security," he said.

Port clusters and industrial zones associated with marine economy

Next, the delegation visited Gemalink port. Delegates were given seat belts and hard hats and were introduced to the port.

Gemalink belongs to the port - logistics ecosystem, located in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai seaport cluster. In 2024, the port will receive 525 ships, with an output of 1.75 million TEU. In 2025, the port is expected to reach nearly 2 million TEU. After 4 years of operation, Gemelink port has reached 6 million TEU of container throughput.

According to the planning proposed by the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the Ministry of Construction, Gemalink wharf will be extended by about 390m downstream, connecting with Cai Mep Ha port route, helping to increase the capacity to receive cargo ships and exploit the sea wharf route more effectively.

After lunch, the delegation visited Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park - a 999-hectare industrial park developed on the basis of cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park is near Cai Mep - Thi Vai deep-water seaport, Long Son petrochemical complex, PP factory and underground liquefied gas storage, especially near the warehouse system of Cai Mep Ha logistics area. With that advantage, Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park has strengths in the industries of plastics, chemicals, basic materials production...

At the meeting, representatives of Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park proposed that Ho Chi Minh City leaders consider and officially recognize the title of "Eco-Industrial Park", in the direction of industrial symbiosis and application of information technology in management and operation.

In the near future, Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park plans to build accommodation facilities for more than 10,000 workers and requests the delegation to consider and support.

He hopes that the leaders of Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park will continue to promote and research the orientation of green economy, circular economy, digital economy, continue to invest, and pay attention, especially to the lives of workers as proposed by the unit.
