Hoang Duc returns to the training ground, coach Kim Sang Sik breathes a sigh of relief

Midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc has returned to training with the Vietnamese team to prepare for the match against Nepal, after being absent from the previous training session due to injury.

On the afternoon of October 12, the Vietnamese team had a training session at District 7 Stadium (HCMC) to prepare for the return match against Nepal in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup on October 14 at Thong Nhat Stadium.

In this training session, it is noteworthy that star midfielder Nguyen Hoang Duc returned to practice with his teammates after being absent from the October 11 training session due to injury.

This is good news for coach Kim Sang Sik as the Vietnamese team needs a midfielder who can launch good attacks in order to defeat Nepal once again.

Before that, the Vietnamese team barely won 3-1 against Nepal in the first leg at Go Dau stadium despite having one more player in the second half. Among them, Hoang Duc played quite normally despite high expectations.

Speaking before the training session, midfielder Hoang Duc said: "Yesterday I was in pain so I couldn't practice with the team. But today I was able to return. I have to practice with my teammates to see how intense it is, then I will know exactly how much of my body has recovered and whether I can play in the next match or not."

Commenting on the first leg, Hoang Duc admitted that the Vietnamese team had a hard-fought victory. He said: "Even though we had more players, we couldn't score an early goal. However, that's football.

We have learned from the match to look forward to the return match at Thong Nhat Stadium. The whole team is currently actively preparing for the match on October 14 and hope this will be a good match."

Regarding the presence of 8 U23 players in this training session, Hoang Duc said that it is a positive thing. He said: "In addition to preparing for the two matches against Nepal, it is also to prepare for the SEA Games 33 at the end of the year. That is a good competition between old and new players."

"I'm sorry that Quang Hai is not here this time. Hopefully next time Quang Hai will recover and return to the Vietnam team," Hoang Duc added.

Although Hoang Duc returned to the training ground, central defender Bui Tien Dung did not. He continued to not play after staying at the hotel on October 11.
