Vietnam U21 missed the 17th-18th place match at the Women's U21 Volleyball World Championship after losing to Chile U21. Coach Nguyen Trong Linh's team will face the Dominican Republic tomorrow (August 16) to compete for 19th-20th place at the tournament taking place in Indonesia.

After the victory over Egypt, U21 Vietnam entered the match with U21 Chile with the goal of winning a ticket to the 17th-18th place match. However, with a poor mental state, U21 Vietnam quickly revealed a series of weaknesses in their playing style, especially in the first and second pass stages. This created conditions for U21 Chile to easily control the game and win 25-17, 25-15 in the first two sets.

The U21 Vietnam team's efforts to rise up in the third set created a dramatic score battle. Coach Nguyen Trong Linh's students made a spectacular breakthrough in the final stages of the set to win 25-17, igniting hope of turning the situation around.

Unfortunately, the momentum was not maintained in the fourth set. Although there were times when U21 Vietnam was close to the opponent, the team's blunder in the crucial stage caused the team to lose 20-25. In the end, U21 Chile won 3-1 (25-17, 25-15, 17-25, 25-20) to qualify for the 17th-18th place match.
