U.22 Vietnam and Coach K IM S ANG- S IK FIRST TRAINING SESSION
On the afternoon of June 27, Coach Kim Sang-sik officially had his first training session with the U.22 Vietnam team, on the Ba Ria field with carefully tended coniferous grass. The weather here is very cool, so Mr. Kim can easily help the players recover their strength after a stressful season. It should also be added that most of the 35 players called up this time regularly play in the V-League.
In Ba Ria City, Coach Kim Sang-sik has 28 young faces, while 5 SLNA players (Van Binh, Xuan Tien, Van Cuong, Long Vu, Quang Vinh) and 2 CAHN Club players (Dinh Bac and new player Pham Minh Phuc) will be presented after the National Cup final on June 29. It is expected that in the coming days, Mr. Kim will let his students practice their moves with physical exercises.

Coach Kim Sang-sik's direct leadership of the U.22 Vietnam team shows his determination to win the U.23 Southeast Asian Championship for the third consecutive time. The team is expected to have two friendly matches with the U.22 Taiwan team on July 2 and 4. This will also be an opportunity for the U.22 Vietnam team to hone their skills to take advantage of the strong and abundant firepower they have at their disposal.
At the moment, coach Kim Sang-sik has many quality strikers, of which Dinh Bac and Khuat Van Khang have a lot of experience playing for the Vietnam national team. In addition, Quoc Viet and Thanh Nhan have a lot of experience playing for the Vietnam U.23 team. Van Truong, Xuan Tien, Dang Duong and Long Vu are champions of the 2023 Southeast Asian U.23 tournament in Thailand.
U.22 VN 'S FIRM RELIANCES
In the current U.22 Vietnam team, there are 8 champions of the 2023 Southeast Asian U.23 tournament and have confirmed their position at the 2024 Asian U.23 tournament. This season, Khuat Van Khang has had explosive form with 5 goals and 5 assists in the V-League 2024 - 2025. The fact that the midfielder born in 2003 has confirmed a solid position on the field and is a mainstay of the The Cong Viettel Club's attack will be a great support for the U.22 Vietnam team. In addition, Dinh Bac's return is also good news if you remember how outstanding he was in the 2023 Asian Cup and his goals against Japan and the Philippines. In the youth arena, Dinh Bac will certainly be the name that attracts all the attention of the opponent. That will also be an opportunity for the U.22 Vietnam team to surprise with new elements.
The first practice session was exciting.

Le Viktor is having a successful season in the V-League and playing impressively in a friendly tournament in China, promising to bring mobility to the attack. In addition, Mr. Kim will have 2 "trump cards" that can surprise opponents: striker Bui Alex (team B of Bohemians Praha 1905, playing in the Czech Republic's 3rd division) and Nguyen Ngoc My ( Thanh Hoa Club). Bui Alex just had his first try with U.22 Vietnam in the most recent gathering in late May and early June, while Ngoc My is still a new name to opponents. The young striker born in 2004 had a successful debut season in the V-League with 17 matches and 2 goals. The top scorer of the 2024 national U.21 tournament was called up by Mr. Kim in previous gatherings but missed the appointment due to injury.
What did Mr. Kim say?
According to the plan, the U.22 Vietnam team will continue training in Ba Ria-Vung Tau until July 12, then move to Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for the flight to Indonesia on the morning of July 14.
Having won the U23 Southeast Asian Championship twice in a row (2022, 2023), U22 Vietnam is considered one of the bright candidates for this year's championship.
However, coach Kim Sang-sik emphasized that the biggest goal is not immediate achievements but the comprehensive development of young players.
“Winning consecutive championships is something to be proud of, but rather than putting too much pressure on ourselves, we want to focus on giving our best in every match. I always encourage the players to see this tournament as an opportunity to grow and develop, rather than just aiming for results. I think the results will be a natural consequence of that process,” said head coach Kim Sang-sik.
