Using a fake doctorate to teach everywhere, almost became the head of a college department

The leaders of Vietnam College of Industry and Trade said that in early September, Mr. NTH was accepted to work on probation at the Ho Chi Minh City campus. On September 18, the school gave Mr. NTH a probationary position as head of the information technology department.

When submitting the application, this person provided the school with a doctorate degree under the name NTH (born August 13, 1981), majoring in computer science , awarded in 2021, diploma number QH: 22086798528xx.

Mr. H. also holds a master's degree in information technology, awarded in 2010.

Both degrees show that the place of issue is University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Pham Duc Trong, Head of Communications Department of Vietnam College of Industry and Trade, added: "According to the recruitment process, after receiving the application, the school will verify the candidate's diploma. We have sent a notarized copy of the doctoral degree in the name of NTH to the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City for verification. The results show that the information on this diploma is not consistent with the stored data."

Afterwards, the school called Mr. H. to work, but he still insisted that his degree was granted by the University of Natural Sciences.

The school asked Mr. H. to return to work at the University of Natural Sciences in Ho Chi Minh City and then submit the verification results. However, in early November, Mr. H. submitted a resignation letter citing family matters.

According to Mr. Trong, this is the first case where Vietnam College of Industry and Trade discovered that the diploma a candidate used to apply to the school was fake.

"The school's process for recruiting lecturers is that after receiving the application, the school will verify the diploma and after a 1-3 month probationary period, an official contract will be issued. If a fake diploma is used or the probationary period is not passed, the school will not hire the candidate," Mr. Trong shared.

It is known that not only did he use a fake doctorate to apply to the Vietnam College of Industry and Trade, Mr. H. also applied for the position of head of the Computer Science department at another university in Ho Chi Minh City, also with a doctorate degree named NTH (born August 13, 1981), majoring in computer science, but the diploma number was QH: 0220018000xx issued on September 15, 2022. When the leaders of this university looked up the number, it showed another person's name, not Mr. H.

In addition, Mr. H. was once accepted to work at another university in Ho Chi Minh City. However, after 2 days of teaching, Mr. H. resigned because he was discovered to have used a fake doctorate.
