Faced with the complicated developments of storm Bualoi and the risk of prolonged heavy rain, the Department of Education and Training of Lao Cai province has issued an urgent dispatch, requesting educational establishments to allow more than 465,000 preschool, primary and vocational students in the area to stay home from school on September 30 to ensure safety.

From October 1, schools will proactively monitor weather developments to report and ask for opinions from the People's Committee and the Department of Education and Training if they have to continue to let students stay home from school.

For schools with boarding and semi-boarding students, school leaders must closely manage, prepare enough drinking water, food and essential food, and ensure safe living during storms. The movement of students home must be closely coordinated with families and authorities to ensure absolute safety.
