Coastal road connecting East-West economic corridor 'increased' capital by more than 670 billion

The Provincial People's Committee has just proposed that the Provincial People's Council adjust the investment policy for the Coastal Road project connecting the East-West Economic Corridor - Phase 1 from VND2,060 billion to VND2,731.779 billion.

This adjustment is due to many factors arising during the review and update process. Such as the increased cost of site clearance, more than 540 billion VND, due to changes in compensation prices for land and assets on land such as houses, structures, trees, crops, etc. Construction costs also increased due to the adjustment of the route and the addition of technical factors such as landslide and flash flood prevention.

Thach Han 1 Bridge connecting Dong Ha city with Trieu Phong district, part of the Coastal Road project connecting the East-West economic corridor - phase 1, is under construction.

Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee also proposed that the Provincial People's Council adjust the project implementation period from 2021-2026 to 2021-2027. The adjustment of the total investment and project progress aims to ensure feasibility and investment efficiency in the new reality.

The coastal road project connecting the East-West Economic Corridor with a total length of more than 54.9 km includes 2 sections.

Section 1 is more than 42 km long, starting point at the border of Quang Binh - Quang Tri province, ending point at km 42+162 (south of Cua Viet bridge, Quang Tri). Section 2 is more than 12.2 km long, starting point connects with the axis road along the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone, ending point connects with National Highway 1, section Km 759 through Dong Ha city.

The project started construction on April 29, 2022, with a total investment of VND 2,060 billion, invested by the Quang Tri Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board.
