Due to the impact of storm No. 10, by the afternoon of September 29, widespread rain continued to fall in Quang Tri province. According to the Provincial Civil Defense Command, preliminary statistics as of 11:00 a.m. on September 29 showed that rain and storms had left 12 people missing, 5 injured, 3 houses collapsed and 390 houses had their roofs blown off; many routes and traffic points were flooded, landslides and blocked; many residential areas were flooded and isolated; a number of schools and office buildings were affected and many crop areas were flooded and severely damaged.
To quickly overcome the consequences of the storm and rain, helping people soon stabilize their lives and production, the Military Command of Quang Tri province has directed agencies and units to mobilize thousands of officers and soldiers to key areas to promptly support people.
In the communes affected by the storm, the armed forces coordinated with the local authorities to cut down and clear trees, clear sewers, clear landslides, ensure smooth traffic; and arrange forces to support people in harvesting rice. Along with that, hundreds of officers, soldiers and militiamen supported households whose houses were damaged in repairing and re-roofing, cleaning up the environment, moving property, and overcoming damage to soon stabilize life and production.
After storm No. 10, many schools were in disarray due to fallen trees, mud and rubbish flowing into the schoolyards following the floods... Local military forces, together with functional forces, cleaned up the schoolyards, repaired damaged classrooms, and ensured a safe and clean school environment to welcome students back to school soon.
According to the forecast of the authorities, the province will continue to have rain, thunderstorms, risk of tornadoes, lightning, strong gusts of wind, flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas, and flooding in low-lying areas. In the face of complicated developments of natural disasters, to ensure the safety of the people, mobile working groups and units under the Provincial Military Command continue to closely monitor the area, coordinate with the authorities to review and warn of the risk of landslides and flooding; promptly support the evacuation of people in dangerous areas to safety.
