FIFA sends security delegation when Vietnam national football team arrives at Indonesia's "fire pit"

In Group F, the 2nd qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia, the Vietnam national football team will play two home and away matches against Indonesia on March 21 and 26. The first leg will take place at Bung Karno Stadium, which is known as the “fire pan” because of its large capacity and the enthusiasm of the fans in the archipelago.

Playing at Bung Karno Stadium is therefore always a big pressure for the opponents of the Indonesian team, including the Vietnamese team. In many matches, Indonesian fans are aggressive, forcing the police to intervene. Security is therefore one of the top concerns of each match here.

VFF Vice President Tran Anh Tu said the Vietnamese team had anticipated this situation. According to Mr. Tran Anh Tu, the Vietnamese team according to the recent call-up decision includes many experienced players, enough to overcome the pressure created by the opponent.

Mr. Tran Anh Tu also added that the match between Indonesia and Vietnam is at FIFA level. Therefore, FIFA will send a delegation to inspect the quality of the field as well as the organization, including security issues at Bung Karno Stadium.

Indonesian media recently reported that the host country's organizing committee is carrying out preparations, cleaning the field, taking care of the grass... so that the match takes place in the best conditions.

In Group F, Vietnam is in second place with 3 points, 3 points behind the leading team Iraq and 2 points ahead of Indonesia.

In preparation, the VFF recently announced a list of 33 players to be called up to the Vietnam National Team. Among them, Coach Troussier has called back a series of veterans such as striker Cong Phuong, midfielder Hoang Duc or striker Tien Linh... The French coach also called up many young faces such as Nham Manh Dung, Khuat Van Khang, Dinh Bac.

According to the plan, the Vietnam team will practice in Hanoi before leaving for Jakarta on March 19. The match between the Indonesia team and the Vietnam team at Bung Karno Stadium will take place at 8:30 p.m. on March 21.
