Nearly 549 trillion VND for social security work

In the first 6 months of 2025, social security work has been carried out promptly and effectively. Nearly 549 trillion VND has been spent to take care of people with revolutionary contributions, support social protection beneficiaries, social policy beneficiaries, etc.

The General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ) said that in the first 6 months of this year, social security work was always implemented promptly and effectively by all levels and sectors.

According to local reports, in the first six months of this year (up to June 25, 2025), central and local leaders, departments, branches, organizations, and philanthropists have organized visits, encouraged, and given gifts to social protection beneficiaries according to Decree No. 20/2021/ND-CP dated March 15, 2021 with an amount of 16.8 trillion VND.

The budget for supporting poor households, near-poor households, households in difficult circumstances, and social policy households is 3,200 billion VND. Along with that, support and care for people with meritorious services and relatives of people with meritorious services to the revolution is 20.6 trillion VND; sudden and unusual support arising in the locality is 507.7 billion VND.

In addition, more than 27.1 million health insurance cards/books/free medical examination and treatment cards have been issued to beneficiaries.

In particular, for the group of people with revolutionary contributions, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), the President decided to spend more than VND 834 billion as gifts for.

Accordingly, 11 groups of people with revolutionary contributions were given gifts by the President on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2 with a gift value of 500,000 VND per person. The total budget for giving gifts on this occasion is more than 834 billion VND, for about 1.66 million people.

Also in June 2025, the President signed a Decision to give gifts to people with revolutionary contributions on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025). Accordingly, nearly 1.6 million people with revolutionary contributions across the country will receive gifts from the President with two gift levels of 600,000 VND and 300,000 VND depending on the recipient. The total budget for giving gifts to people with revolutionary contributions on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day is more than 480 billion VND, which has been arranged in the State Budget plan for 2025.

Over the first six months of this year, the Government has supported people with more than 10,300 tons of rice, including: Supporting more than 6,000 tons of rice to relieve hunger on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of At Ty for 402,600 people; supporting nearly 4,300 tons of rice to relieve hunger during the 2025 crop gap for 284,500 people.
