Durian price today August 20: Price increases again, export breaks through the billion USD mark

Durian prices increased across the board today, except for Ri6, which saw a decrease in bulk purchases. Exports improved, surpassing $1 billion after 7 months thanks to tightening quality control.

Domestic durian price today August 20

Durian prices today, August 20, recorded an increase in many places, while some types remained the same or slightly decreased.

In the Southwest region, the price of Ri6 durian fluctuates around 40,000 - 44,000 VND/kg, up 2,000 VND compared to yesterday. However, Ri6 purchased in bulk has dropped sharply to 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg. The price of Thai durian has increased quite well, reaching 72,000 - 78,000 VND/kg, while Thai purchased in bulk has increased to 40,000 - 45,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, prices are mostly stable, except for Thai Dep Chon which increased by 3,000 VND/kg, currently reaching 72,000 - 78,000 VND/kg. In the Central Highlands, prices increased more evenly: Ri6 Dep Chon reached 42,000 - 45,000 VND/kg, while Thai Dep Chon increased to 78,000 - 82,000 VND/kg. Notably, Thai bought in bulk increased sharply by 3,000 - 7,000 VND, reaching 45,000 - 48,000 VND/kg.

Durian export market today August 20

In the export market, the price of Monthong durian type A increased by 15-20% compared to the previous month, fluctuating at 80,000 - 90,000 VND/kg. Type B also rose to 70,000 - 75,000 VND/kg. Since June, export turnover has improved significantly, reaching about 350 - 400 million USD in July alone. In total, exports in the past 7 months are estimated to exceed 1 billion USD.

A new point is that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has issued Decision 3015 on food safety control procedures for fresh durian for export. This is the first time a fruit has its own monitoring mechanism, from cultivation to export, to improve quality and strengthen export markets, especially China.
